Cazador puts a thick book down with a frown. “Have I not taught you to knock?”
“I don’t care. I’m leaving the city tomorrow, and you’re coming with me.”
Cazador leans forward on the wooden table and regards him with an arrogant inquisiveness. “And if I don’t?”
“Then you can stay, and we’ll see just how far this cursed bond can be stretched.” Threat comes easily from his lips, but even he’s a little surprised by how much he means it. “I’d rather die out there tomorrow, than a thousand years later in here, with you.”
