Decided to post an alternative ending to this story, set in chapter 13 events (after Conrad his shot, before Yassen dies)

Summary:
Alex tried everything to stop General Sarov, but in the end, he failed. The bomb detonated, leaving devastation in its wake and forcing Alex to grapple with the unbearable weight of his perceived failure. Stripped of his sense of control and haunted by the lives lost, he finds himself alone, trapped in the aftermath of Sarov's ruthless ambition.
