Summary
With Luffy distracted feeding their son Marco slipped away to the taffy stand. Shanks yelped a bit when Marco suddenly appeared at his side. “C’mon, walk back with me after I buy Luffy his taffy. He’s missed you, yoi.”
“I… I don’t want to upset him.” Shanks muttered softly. “I fucked up pretty bad.”
“Language, yoi.” Marco said immediately out of habit. “Also you did, yes but I can tell you he wants nothing more than a hug from his mom and for you to meet Mateus.”
Marco let the red haired man stew on that as he purchased two big boxes of taffy in a mix of Luffy’s favorite flavors. He also grabbed a smaller box of his own favorites so Luffy wouldn’t feel compelled to share his treat as well as a variety sampler. With a grin he passed the sampler over to Shanks chuckling softly at the confusion on his face.
“That’s what you got Luffy the first time you took him to the fair, right?” Marco asked with a soft grin. “This is so you can give the baby the same memory with Luffy. It can be your ice breaker, yoi.”
A brilliant smile lit up Shanks’ face as he clutched the sample box to his chest, “Thank you, Marco.”

Before Luffy could reply, his head snapped around at the call of his name, drawing everyone's attention and his family’s. Buggy was rushing towards them half dressed in his outfit with wide panicked eyes that seemed to zero in on him with frightening accuracy. “SLINKY!”
“Tio? Are you okay, what is it, what’s happened?” Luffy asked concerned, his eyes flickering to behind his uncle to see what caused the panic, also taking note how his parents and Ace stood straighter.
Buggy came to a stop before him, breathing raggedly from the sprint from the big top and on a search for his nephew. “I need your help, Cabaji was practicing and lost balance when one of the hands dropped the equipment by accident and crashed into Mohji, Mohji dislocated his shoulder trying to stop himself from falling and he can’t do the show. Slinky, I wouldn't ask if it wasn’t important but you’re the only one able to do his part.”
“You want me as your aerialist when I don’t even know the routine themed for this show?” Luffy questioned incredulously.
“We both know you could learn the whole thing from the practice videos in twenty minutes.” Buggy deadpanned. “It’s irrelevant anyway! Your usual routines still fit the theme but I need you to come with me now so we can get you in some kind of outfit that doesn’t completely clash. You sprouted so you can’t borrow my spares anymore.”
“Ok, ok, calm down!” Luffy exclaimed a bit worried at just how heavy his uncle was breathing. “Yeah, I’ll cover and as long as there’s black pants I can squeeze into we’ll be fine.”
“You are the best nephew!” Buggy exclaimed grabbing his face and dragging him down to kiss his forehead before snagging him by the wrist and hauling him back through the crowd. He completely ignored the sputtering of Ace and Sabo in the distance but Luffy sure didn’t, he couldn’t help but throw a smug grin over his shoulder at them before vanishing in the crowd.
“Why did your half dressed clown brother just kidnap my partner, yoi?” Marco asked dazedly his head was spinning from just how fast that rapid fire conversation went.
Shanks opened and closed his mouth several times at the question, turning his eyes towards Marco bewildered. “I have absolutely no clue. I know that Luffy used to help Blue with his practises but… this? This is new.”
