She’s a performer. She’s a magician. And she’s good at it. She knows how to get people to see a cheerfulness that’s not there, a smile that’s real and not a trick, or how to dazzle and sparkle and fold up the parts of herself she wants to hide. Make them believe in something that’s not there. Make them think they’re not seeing what they actually are. So when she smiles up at her Dad, tells him she’s always wanted a new mommy so she’s glad she’s always had one all along, her Dad ruffles her hair and smiles back. “I’m glad at least you’re happy about it, Truce,” he tells her, shifting his attention and ire towards Apollo.
Apollo is looking at her.
Trucy smiles at him, her best stage smile with all the dazzle and pizzazz she can manage.
He does not smile back.
Or: Phoenix tells Trucy and Apollo that they're half-siblings after hiding it from them for three years. Apollo tries his best to be a supportive brother, and Trucy can't bottle up her emotions any longer.

love to see trucy wright in her natural element, aka "desperately trying to ensure that people don't notice her agonies and apollo being the only one with the eyes to cut through the cloak by which she hides herself."
also engaging with apollo having legitimate ire and reason to be frustrated with nick makes me happy. really, apollo and trucy are always the things that matter most to me in this series to an absurd extent. this focuses on the two of them but trucy above all else. a rarity that i appreciate. she has repressed anger and sadness in both ways that can never truly be left behind. her father has failed her, no matter how much he may love her. but apollo has always tried for her sake. it isn't /enough/, it isn't what either of them deserve, but it is ... everything.

Appreciate you engaging with Nick's rough edges. 'Bad dad Nick' is important to me for personal reasons even though I know why others don't ascribe to it. Obviously, he isn't "Evil Bad Guy". I appreciate you showing the nuance here as well as not pulling punches on how these things hurt.
