Do you remember me? (If not, then please stay happy)

Summary:

“A fraternal twin might share similar characteristics that make them look alike,” his mother explained, “but an identical twin makes both siblings look, well, exactly the same!”

“So does being identical mean it’s a bad thing?”

“Well, I wouldn’t say necessarily… but I’m sure every sibling dynamic has its ups and downs. Why do you ask, Izuku?”

“I mean, what if I grow up to become a hero like All Might, but they grow up to become a big bad villain?”

Midoriya Izuku only saw a set of twins once in his life. But he would’ve never guessed that on a regular school morning, two new transfer students would be coming in to join his class.

To his shock, his new classmates were a pair of identical pink-haired boys!

And for some reason, Izuku couldn’t shake his uneasy feeling about them.

Or: Yuuji and Sukuna reincarnate as twins in BNHA and transfer to Aldera Junior High. This changes some things.

Chapter 1

Chapter Text

If you asked Midoriya Izuku what type of person he was, he’d most likely consider himself a diligent student. He jots detailed notes in class, submits assignments on time, and studies hard to earn good grades. Even if he’s a little, er, soft-spoken, he still does his best to participate in class and answer the teacher’s questions correctly.

Sure he gets picked on, but he’s not looking for any trouble or causing all-out fist fights. He can barely handle Kacchan or any of his followers for that matter. The burn marks on his uniform say more than enough.

He wants to do well to support his mom and get into a renowned heroics high school, which… mostly just narrows down to UA, but that’s beside the point. Even if he was admitted to Shiketsu or Ketsubutsu, it won’t ever be the same as getting into UA.

It’s only another reason to work harder towards his goal of becoming a hero and making it a reality!

“Everyone settle down and take your seats,” his teacher announced.

Of course, he still has this school term to worry about…

The students shuffled around the room before returning to their desks. One of Kacchan’s followers bumped into Izuku’s shoulder, making him flinch and drop his limited All Might pencil. A few kids snickered while Izuku begrudgingly picked it back up.

“Alright, let’s see…” Their teacher scanned the room and counted heads.

“Looks like everyone’s present. Before we begin our normal homeroom routine, I have an unusual announcement to make. Despite the fact we’re a few weeks into the term, our homeroom will be welcoming two new transfer students.”

Izuku perked his ears up. New transfer students were pretty uncommon, not to mention two of them… although it’s likely that they’re siblings or relatives. But why transfer now instead of the beginning of the term? Wouldn’t it be more convenient to finish their education back at their previous junior high? Aldera really isn’t that noteworthy or anything last time he checked. Then again they were still in the early stages of the curriculum and hadn’t covered more of the advanced concepts yet. They could still catch up with the material relatively quickly. That still doesn’t explain why they transferred, though. Perhaps they were forced to move last minute, and—

SHUT THE FUCK UP, DEKU!” Bakugou blasted mini explosions in his hand.

Izuku squeaked.

“Oh, um, sorry...” He really needs to work on that bad habit.

Their homeroom teacher sighed at their usual banter. “Language, Bakugou. Anyways, you two can come in and introduce yourselves now.”

The front door suddenly slid open. To the class' surprise, two heads poked in, revealing two identical boys with bright pink hair and small scars beneath their eyes.

Woah! I’ve never seen twins that looked so identical before, Izuku thought.

The only time he recalled seeing twins before was when he was little.

He and his mom went out to run some errands at the local supermarket. Grocery shopping, to be precise.

While younger Izuku was pushing the cart for his mother, he saw two other kids with quirked bunny ears in the candy aisle. One of them was a little girl with black bunny ears and dark hair, while the other was a boy with white bunny ears and light hair. They giggled at each other and grabbed a handful of sweets before running out of the aisle lane.

He didn’t ask about it later until they were walking outside with their shopping bags. Izuku tugged a bit on his mom’s long skirt.

“Mom, do you remember the kids who were getting the candy?” the younger boy asked.

“Mm, I think so sweetie,” Inko answered.

“Why did they look the same?”

“Well Izuku, you know how some kids can have siblings like brothers or sisters.”

Izuku hums and nods. That makes sense, but he already knew that before.

“In certain rare cases, these children can have a unique sibling called a twin, which can be either fraternal or identical. Do you know what that means, Izuku?”

The green-haired boy concentrated before shaking his head. “No, not really.”

“A fraternal twin might share similar characteristics that make them look alike,” his mother explained, “but an identical twin makes both siblings look, well, exactly the same!”

She half-heartedly laughed.

“I believe the two kids you saw earlier were fraternal twins. Identical twins can be difficult to tell apart, so it can get a little confusing for everyone involved. Oh, hold my hand Izuku, we’re approaching a crosswalk.”

Izuku maneuvered the shopping bags onto his other hand to make room for his empty one. He made sure to hold onto his mom’s hand tightly as they safely traveled across to the other side.

“So does being identical mean it’s a bad thing?” he continued.

“Well, I wouldn’t say necessarily… but I’m sure every sibling dynamic has its ups and downs. Why do you ask, Izuku?”

“Umm, I don’t know.”

He let go of his mom’s hands to shift the bags’ weight on both sides of his arms again.

“I just think it’d be a little weird to live with someone who has the same face as me.” Izuku glanced down at a sidewalk pebble before contemplating his next thoughts.

“I mean, what if I grow up to become a hero like All Might, but they grow up to become a big bad villain?”

And his mom was right.

The two brothers stepped in front of the class and faced the entirety of the room, standing at around the same lengthy height.

They looked completely identical!

There were only a few characteristics to just barely distinguish between them.

The twin on the left had a broader build and wore his gakuran uniform unbuttoned, shoving both hands into his pockets. He had slick back hair matched with a set of dark crimson eyes that carefully examined its unfamiliar surroundings. His expression was in the mix between boredom and an outright scowl, making his presence seem a little… intimidating. It unnerved Izuku a bit and reminded him of Kacchan (although he hopes that isn’t the case, one Kacchan is more than enough). It was clear to anyone that he did not want to be here.

On the other hand, his brother seemed less closed off and came across as more easygoing. He had a messy, tousled undercut and a mostly buttoned uniform save for an open collar, but didn’t that deter his friendly image or make him less approachable. His warm golden brown eyes were faintly reminiscent of amber, and there was a curious look on his face when he observed Izuku’s classmates. Although the pink haired boy looked a little nervous, he didn’t beat around the bush for long and quickly settled into a relaxed pose.

The radiant boy smiled, bowing his head before lifting a singular hand.

“Yo! I’m Itadori Yuuji! I’m into girls like Jennif—mmhmfph!”

Unfortunately, Yuuji wasn’t able to finish his sentence when his twin abruptly slapped a hand over his mouth, cutting off whatever he was going to say next.

“Sukuna,” the other male bluntly introduced.

There was an overarching silence following their introductions, and after realizing Sukuna wasn’t going to expand further, their teacher interrupted with an awkward cough.

“Ahem… would you two like to share with the class where you’re both from?”

“Oofpph, yeeuah!”

Yuuji managed to free himself from Sukuna’s jaw-breaking grasp and pushed his hand down.

“We’re both twin brothers originally from Sendai. Buuut some personal stuff came up, so we had to move out from the countryside into the city!”

There were some oohs and aahs from the class as they slowly devolved into a wave of conversations.

“Sendai? That’s a long way to travel from here.”

“Yeah, isn’t that super far? I’d get homesick super quick after a few days, haha!”

“Now that I think about it, you two totally look like you’re from the country outskirts!”

“Are you guys actually identical twins?! I never seen one in person before!”

“What’s with the pink hair? Do you guys have a quirk that matches each other’s hair color?

“No way! That’d be such a lame quirk!”

“I bet their quirks have to match cuz’ they’re identical!”

“Does that mean you two are gonna be a pro hero duo in the future!? You would be way more popular than Bakugou—“ “LIKE HELL THEY WOULD!”

“Who the hell wants to transfer here? Are you delinquents who got kicked out of your old school or somethin’?”

Soon the class became overwhelmed by the amount of kids calling out and having random conversations. Yuuji awkwardly laughed and sheepishly scratched the back of his head, unsure how to respond. Sukuna found more interest in studying his nails.

Even Izuku had to admit that some of his classmates’ comments were brutal… just who asks about private stuff like that?

“THE LOT OF YOU SETTLE DOWN THIS INSTANT!” Their teacher reprimanded.

Everyone immediately shut up.

“You can bother with your questions later at lunch. The next time you cause a disruption and you’ll be spending that lunch with me. Is that clear?”

There were a few murmurs.

“I SAID IS THAT CLEAR?”

“Yes, sensei,” the class responded in unison.

“Good. Don’t make me repeat myself again. Kids these days have no respect…” he grumbled out the last part.

“You two,” he pointed his two fingers at Sukuna and Yuuji, “there should be two extra chairs and desks outside and down the hallway. You can bring them in and sit in the back right side of the room. Don’t be disruptive on your way out, some classes are still going over morning announcements.”

“You got it, sensei!” Yuuji made a little salute.

Sukuna rolled his eyes before he grabbed Yuuji by the uniform collar, causing the latter to choke and yelp as he was forcibly dragged out of the classroom. The rougher twin didn’t spare a single glance to rest of them as he promptly slammed the door shut.

Well, that sure was something..

“Right, moving on from that debacle, your future career plan is coming up so I suggest that all of you carefully…”

Izuku tuned out his teacher in favor of writing in his future hero analysis notebook. The hero fanboy already knows what he’s going to be when he grows up, and recently he updated a section on his “would be” hero costume by adding some minor tweaks (and by minor tweaks, he means adding another six whole pages).

In all honesty, Izuku didn’t know what to make of the Itadori twins. The pair had completey opposite personalities! While Itadori Sukuna appeared colder and distant, Yuuji was much more easygoing and looked friendly enough to socialize with. How they got along was a mystery in itself. He wonders what their quirks were.

Izuku paused his note-taking.

Although, now that he thinks about it, the two brothers didn’t mention what type of quirks they had at all during their introductions. The twins were probably so caught up in the class’ disruption that they forgot to include it in their speech, which was pretty inconvenient since he wanted to know what quirks they had..

Writing about quirks has always been his favorite hobby. In a way, it was actually kind of therapeutic. Even if Izuku can never have his own quirk, being able to analyze other people’s quirks made him learn how to effectively break down strengths and weaknesses. It’s a good skill to have when facing a villain! So, being quirkless won’t stop him! No matter what anyone says, it’s not a good enough reason to give up his dream! Heck, he might even argue that it’s another reason to work even harder toward a hero! That is… until he figures out a way to deal with his quirkless body. But for now, it’ll only be a temporary setback.

From first glance, the twins didn’t look like the mutant type, maybe emitter or transformation? Or what if they were born with the same type of quirk? It would be really cool if their quirks complemented each other and synergized in battle! He knows there’s a few duo hero agencies in Japan that have matching quirk users! There were so many possibilities! He’ll have to ask about their quirks later to record in his hero notes.

...

But, then again, there’s always the chance that.. they didn’t have…

Izuku shook his head.

No, the likelihood that they were quirkless was extremely unlikely. Quirkless people were statistically a minority primarily made up of older senior citizens. These days, it’s like finding a needle in a haystack. Izuku just happened to be.. really unlucky.. in terms of the genetics lottery. He doubts he’d find two other needles in the same haystack.

Maybe he’ll talk to Yuuji about it since Sukuna doesn’t seem very open to socializing..

That isn’t to say he’s judging his new classmate! After all, it can be nerve-wracking to adjust to a new school, much less a whole different city.

If Izuku and his mom had to suddenly move away, he would definitely feel anxious at the disorientating changes. It would take a while for him to fit in and get along with the new class. Not to mention everyone has different reactions when they’re forced to move with their parents… so, he can’t exactly blame Sukuna for feeling a bit mad. Deep down, he’s probably just as nervous as Yuuji was.

It can’t be too bad having them around, right?

Notes:

Hello! This is my first time writing a fanfic. It's very self-indulgent since I'm not that experienced, so please excuse the amateur quality.

I am mostly a reader by nature, but since I love to binge crossovers until 2 AM, I decided to publish my own self-indulgent fic featuring Yuuji and Sukuna as reincarnated twins in BNHA. If you’re wondering about their current relationship, don’t worry as that will be revealed in future chapters.

Fun fact, I originally was going to have Yuuji wear his white hoodie junior high uniform. Buuut I scrapped that idea after realizing that Aldera didn’t look like they tolerated mixed uniforms, since all the students wore the same thing.

With that being said, feel free to kudos and leave a comment with your thoughts!
Till’ next time! ( ^◡^)づ♡
