Okay, we have the bottles, swim diaper, extra diapers, floaties, toys, blanket, towels, and umbrella. Whe should have everything we need for May's first day at the beach, don't you think, Bill?" Alice asked.
"Saur!" Bill said as he came out of the bathroom carrying a bottle of baby sunscreen.
Alice laughed and took the bottle from her bulbasaur and put it in the baby bag. "Now we're ready. Come on, May. We're going to the beach!"
May giggled at the sound of her name and wiggled in her carrier. Alice picked her up and walked with Bill out of her apartment and down to the bus stop where they waited for a few minutes till a bus pulled up and took them to the beach on Route 137.
May was fascinated by the other people and Pokémon on the bus, as usual, and Bill made sure that everyone gave her enough room that neither she nor Alice ever felt crowded. Alice made sure to put sunscreen on both herself and May while they were waiting for their stop and soon they reached the beach and went down onto the sand.
Alice spread out the blanket and put up the umbrella so that one corner was still in the sun. Bill sank onto the blanket and started collecting sun while Alice changed May into her swim diaper and took her down into the water. "We'll let him bask while we see how you like the ocean," she told May. "It's just like your bath water at home!"
She stepped into the water just as a huge wave came in and splashed up over her waist, surprising both her and May. May let out a startled cry and suddenly two vines shot out and grabbed May out of Alice's arms and brought her back to the blanket where she was settled in the shade next to Bill.
"Bulbasuar," he grumbled as he shook a rattle in front of May to distract her from her shock.
Alice sighed but moved back up to the blanket. "Okay, maybe we'll just see if May likes smashing sand castles today and leave the swimming for next time."
