What A Time

Summary:

May goes on her well deserved trip to the Bahamas for a whole week and Tony has to babysit Peter. And the whole time Peter had spent there was nothing short of uneventful.

Not by a long shot.

CURRENTLY BEING REWRITTEN BC OH MY GOD 😭😭

Notes:

Stereotypical things happen. May conviently goes on a holiday and Tony has to babysit Peter for a week. Peter meets the Avengers coincidentally as well.

Yep it's a huge coincidence because inbthsi Universe which I shall call Earth 408944 (yes I have indeed claimed that universe as mine), things like this happen.

Chapter 1: Meeting The Avengers

Summary:

Peter meets the Avengers. Tony and Peter decide to pull a prank on the Rogues.

Chapter Text

"Are you sure you packed everything?"

May looked up from her somewhat over packed luggage, glancing at Peter with a reassuring smile before returning to trying to lock (what Peter guarantees to be all her personal belongings) in one singular large luggage.

Why was May packing exactly?

Well you see, May Parker is a very busy woman who works overtime to earn extra money to give Peter a roof to live under. And Peter greatfully appreciated everything she did for him. So Tony, had given May a free trip to the fricking Bahamas for a whole fricking week

"Of course," May huffed as she squished down everything into the luggage successfully. She stood up and admired her hard work with her hands in her hips before turning to Peter again.

"Are you sure you packed everything?"

"I don't thing I really have to pack May. I mean I have a whole room in Tony's penthouse," Peter explained.

And at that moment they both heard a loud sound of a horn outside the apartment building. When Peter looked out of it, he saw a sleek black Audi car parked outside which was no doubt to be Happy.

"That's Happy," Peter announced, turning to May who was dragging her luggage up.

"Alright then. Let's get going,"

The two walked out of the apartment building to greet Happy's not-so-happy face from all the waiting he had needed to do.

"Sorry Happy, but the elevator held us up,"

Happy waved his apology off and grunted as he lifted May's luggage into the back of the car, probably not having expected the thing to be so heavy. They all got into the car where Happy drove off quickly. No doubt wanting to get this (being a chauffeur for the Parkers) over with.

They were dropping Peter off at the tower first since the tower was a much nearer than the airport. And after 20 minutes of driving and talking with May, Peter had reached the tower of the top technology company where he was going to stay at for a whole week.

"Have fun and stay safe at the Bahamas May,"

"Have fun with Tony, sweetie. And don't give him too much trouble"

"Okay, larb you,"

"I larb you too,"

After they exchanged their goodbyes and hugs, Happy not getting out of the car at all, Peter watched as the black Audi drove away from the tower. And then he realised that he wasn't going to see May for a whole week. But at least he wouldn't be staying at home all by his lonesome.

He walked into the tower and was immediately greeted by Tony's artificial intelligence, FRIDAY.

"Hello Peter," Came the cool voice from seemingly no where. "Shall I alert Boss that you're here?"

"Um ya. Thanks FRIDAY,"

"I have already informed Boss, he wishes that you come up to the lab quickly. Apparently there are a few surprises waiting for you," FRIDAY said.

That does not sound good. Tony's surprises aren't really the best. Or good for that matter.

"Tell him I'll be up in a few,"

"Will do."

He'll be up in a few moments, not minutes. And he was glad that FRIDAY understood that.

Why?

Well you see, Peter Parker is known as, to every single employee and intern at Stark Industries, Tony Stark's AKA Iron Man's personal intern. And therefore, no one is really surprised that he takes Tony Stark's private elevator, that takes only a matter of seconds to reach the penthouse. The difference is only because there wouldn't be interns and employees trying to get to their different respective levels.

And so, Peter reached the penthouse in a matter of thirty fast seconds. However when he stepped out of the elevator, he realised that he wasn't on the correct floor. He realised he was on the Avenger's common floor and definitely not Tony's penthouse floor.

"Umm, FRIDAY? I think you reached the wrong floor," Peter said, glancing around the floor he's only been on a handful of times.

"I believe that Boss had asked me to send you to the Avenger's common floor." FRIDAY chirped.

Peter nodded despite knowing that the AI wouldn't be able to see it and stepped out of the elevator. Wondering why Tony would request that he came to this floor instead. But then he heard Tony's voice with his enhanced hearing and therefore, called out to him loudly.

"Hey, FRIDAY said that you asked me to-"

Shit.

Peter paused his sentence abruptly as he stared at the Avenger's common room filled with, well, none other than the Avengers.

"Hey kid," Tony greeted, breaking the silence.

"Uh. Yea. Hey," Welp there goes his perfect first impression in front of the Avengers no less. "So, um, I'm guessing the other Avengers have been.. um, pardoned?"

Great job Parker, Peter thought.

"So who is this Peter?" Natasha asked.

"Oh my god, I seriously thought I was the only person hiding a secret family. But apparently, no!"

Peter watched as Tony ignored any other inquiries, or sentences for that matter, that the Rogues had and walked over to him, muttering to Peter to just go along while his back was faced to the Rogues.

Then as Tony turned around, he rested his arm on Peter's shoulders, slumping against Peter's surprisingly relaxed figure.

"Everyone meet Peter Parker. My son, who I have indeed kept undercover for 16 years. And we've recently decided that we would tell the Avengers, once I got them pardoned of course. Which I am still expecting some very well deserved thank yous from."

Peter rolled his eyes.

"Now that's that," Tony finished.

"So if you'll excuse me. Pete and I have some lab work to be doing right now. Toodles,"

They both walked to the elevator, leaving the Rogues with different expressions of shock and confusion. Only when they were alone in the elevator, then did Peter turn to Tony with a raised eyebrow.

"Hey hey hey. You haven't even heard what that was all about yet!" Tony defended.

Peter rolled his eyes. Again.

"Don't give me that attitude Parker." Tony paused, figuring how to start the explanation. "Okay well you see, the Rogues or whatever the media is calling them, thinks you're my son. So then I just thought that we'd go along with it." He explained.

"Unless you're uncomfortable with it." Tony added, not wanting to push Peter into anything. But he would be lying if said he wouldn't feel even the slightest tinge of disappointment if Peter said no. Because if they were to pull this bluff on the Rogues, Tony wouldn't really need to act like Peter's father. He already so Peter as his kid.

"No no no. Definitely not uncomfortable with it. How many people in the world can say that they've been able to prank the Avengers? With Tony Stark!" Peter exclaimed excitedly.

"Also it'd be great to get back at Captain America." Peter added, voice turning serious. And Tony noticed.

"Look Underoos, I know that you know about what happened in Siberia, but I think it's time we leave it all behind."

Leave it all behind?

How? How could he forget that Captain America, someone who he had looked up to when he as a kid, left his hero-slash-idol for the dead. When he had found out it out while accidentally coming across the video in FRIDAY's files, he had immediately ripped every piece of Captain America merch he owned. And he was in a horrible mood for a good week or so.

He could not forgive the man. And only if Tony really really wanted him to, then will he begrudgingly 'forgive' the guy.

Peter, however, didn't bring up any of that and instead he slowly nodded. But him nodding definitely does not mean he has forgiven Steve.

"Great, good, fantastic. Now, putting all that drama behind, let's get to work."

And Peter knew, that Tony was doing what he always does to not touch the topic of feelings. Deflecting.

But he didn't say a word.

Meanwhile in the common room, Natasha finally broke the awkward silence.

"Well, that's something."

"Indeed," Wanda agreed.

"Ya, who knew Stark had a ward," Sam muttered.

"How old even is the kid?" Clint asked.

"Well whatever it is, I think we should respect Tony's privacy. I personally think that Tony trusting us to keep his secret of having a child, is huge progress," Steve said, "And... I think we should all find a time to thank Tony for pardoning us. And apologize to him."

"I think you owe an apology more than anyone else here Steve,"

"Barton!"

***

This is so awkward.

Peter would occasionally look up from his food to his the Avengers, the world's mightiest heroes, poke at the food Steve had made. And Peter tried to think of a subject that would interest everyone in conversation. Peter was glad he could see that he wasn't the only one exasperated from all this awkward tension.

"So, Peter how was school today?" Rhodey piped up.

Peter silently thanked Rhodey for the interruption as he answered the question.

"It was fine Uncle Rhodey," Peter said.

He and Tony had informed Rhodey and Pepper about the little stunt they were both pulling, and well, they were both very willing to prank the Rogues. Rhodey had deckared himself Peter's favourite uncle and Pepper as the step mom (obviously because Tony and Pepper weren't in a relationship for over 16 years yet and couldn't have had Peter).

"I uh got back my practice paper for AP Physics and got full marks?" Peter said, more as a question than and answer, not wanting to sound like he's bragging.

"Wow. That's really amazing Peter," Complimented Natasha.

Peter smiled shyly at her, internally fanboying.

Holy shit the Black Widow just complimented me on my Physics grades.

Holy shit.

Yeah, maybe he's not over worshipping some of the Avengers here.

And out of all the Rogues, Natasha was the one who he was most warmed up to. Mostly just because she started out on Tony's side of the 'Civil War' as the media called it.

"Um, thank you Miss Romanov," Peter really tried to keep his voice steady.

"Natasha,"

Oh my god I'm on a first term basis with the Black Widow!

Yup. Definitely not over worshipping some of the Avengers.

"Nat's right Pete. That's impressive, and as a reward you get to choose the movie tonight," Tony announced.

"Movie?" Steve asked.

"Oh yeah right. You know how we used to do movie nights? Yeah. We're doing it again," Tony explained, throat suddenly dry when Steve had spoken up. "Pepper said it was to build 'team bonding' and what not."

With nothing else to talk about, the team tried to fill the silence by starting to discuss about random everyday subjects or just talking among themselves.

Rhodey flashed a knowing smirk at Peter who stifled his laughter.

After dinner, Peter and Natasha had volunteered to clean the dishes while the others walked to the living room where the television was.

While in the kitchen, Peter could not help but feel overly awkward as he was washing the dishes with the Black Widow.

"How did Tony keep you under wraps?" Natasha suddenly said.

Right.

Tony had prepared him for this. He had said that Natasha was the most probable to find out that they weren't really biologically father and son. If whatever made up backstory that Peter made, does not work on Natasha, Tony had said to just give it up.

Natasha wouldn't tell anyone.

At least, that's what Tony had said.

"Dad changed my last name to Parker, which was my biological mom's side, " Peter started. "I haven't actually met my biological mom or maybe I did, I just don't remember. But anyway, my biological mom died along with her husband in a plane crash." That part was true. Peter's parents did die in a plane crash together.

"Yeah, she broke up with Dad and didn't want to keep me," Peter continued. "Well I can't really say she broke up with Dad or if it even can be considered a relationship. I mean all they did was spend one night together, did some things I don't want to think about, and then dad left her the next morning."

"Then poof! 9 months later I existed. And then my mom married someone and threw me onto Dad's doorstep," Peter finished, surprised at how he didn't stutter through out the whole fake explanation.

He prayed to God that his mother was not turning around in her grave and silently apologised to her.

"I see," Natasha all but said. "Why do you call your mother 'my biological mom'?"

"Oh that! That's because I see my mom as Pepper,"

Peter was surprised that they managed to converse in small talk while they finished washing the last of the dishes. Where Natasha mostly asked random questions that Peter was sure she was going to apply when she looked into his background. (Which Tony had mostly erased to keep anyone like Natasha from delving into Peter's life). And Peter would answer those questions with half truths.

By the time they were done, everybody had already settled in the living room. There we're only a few spaces left, one on the couch next to Tony where Peter immediately grabbed and an armchair which Natasha walked swiftly towards.

"What took you so long?" Tony asked, "You know I have a dishwasher for a reason right?"

"Yes?"

"Whatever, just choose the movie bud."

And Tony found himself not surprised as he turned the television on time watch Star Wars again for the hundredth time. Next to him, he was then surprised that Peter had taken out his phone (a Stark phone Tony had give Peter for his 16th birthday) and was now texting him.

Tony read whatever he was texting, getting the message that Peter wanted to tell him something right now without letting the others know.

'I gave Natasha a little backstory on me so you have to go along with what I said. I said you slept with my mom then you left her in the morning, had me then immediately married my dad and threw on your doorstep. And you told me all that when I was 13"

Tony rolled his eyes.

But he thought it made sense. He remembered his playboy days and honestly he wouldn't be surprised if what Peter said was true.

Then Peter put away his phone, and looked up at Tony with a smirk, obviously thinking he was super smart for being able to give Tony the message in such a way.

"Ya ya bud. Great job," Tony said barely above a whisper as he ruffled Peter's hair.

***

"Look," Wanda whispered to Natasha who was now sitting next to her.

She was subtly pointing at Peter who despite watching one if his favorite movies, was asleep soundly on the couch, head resting on Tony's shoulder who seemed impassive at the action.

"That's... adorable," Natasha admitted.

"Alright then. I've gotta put sleeping beauty to sleep. So goodbye," Tony bid as he picked Peter carefully up in his arms. "Oh yea and your rooms are exactly where they always are. Nothing touched. Bye."

Tony walked away from the group, Rhodey had already left and Clint disappeared half way through the movie. Tony did not doubt the man to be somewhere in the vents, doing god knows what.

He walked to the end of the hall to Peter's room, which he was really regretting for putting it there. Peter was heavier than he looked and it probably wasn't good for his aging back.

He finally reached Peter's room and slowly put the teen on his bed, which seemed to wake Peter.

"'S movie over?"

"Yep, and you fell asleep half way through bud."

"Oh. Are you talking me in?" Peter asked, amusement evident in his sleepy voice.

"Be grateful kid. I don't do this for everyone. Heck, I don't even do this for Pep!"

"'M lucky then," Peter muttered, eyes half lidded.

"Ya you are." Tony stated as he stood up to walk towards the door.

"G'night Dad."

Tony had stopped in his tracks, feeling his heart skips a beat as his breath hitched. He slowly turned around to see Peter asleep, brown curls spilling everywhere. Seeing how soundly asleep Peter was, Tony concluded that Peter probably didn't know what he'd just said.

Tony smiled, genuinely.

"Night Pete."
