After everything is said and done — after Luffy is indisputably the Pirate King, after Zoro defeats Mihawk and claims his title, after Nami maps the world, after Usopp discovers he’s always been the brave warrior he idolized, after Chopper knows he can cure any disease, after Robin learns all the true history, after Franky takes the Sunny everywhere else, after Brook and Laboon’s tearful reunion, after Jinbei proves Fishmen and humans can coexist — they finally find the All Blue.
Sanji is left breathless as he stares out at the sea he’s dreamed of, the sea he has spent his whole life searching for.
He recalls when he first heard of All Blue, reading about it in the dark dungeons on Germa. How it seemed like a magical, wonderful place, the exact opposite of his life at that point. A place where every fish in the world lived together, a paradise for the chef he so desperately wanted to be. A place where anything could happen.
It’s a sea that people have died looking for, that even more believe couldn’t possibly be real. It’s the sea Zeff had spent half his life searching for, the sea he gave up his leg for so Sanji could even have a chance to search for himself.
It’s the All Blue: the sea of miracles.
How could anything real possibly live up to his imagination?
“Well?” Luffy grins where he stands at his side, straw hat perched on his head, the wind coming off the ocean playing with the loose straw, “How is it, Sanji?”
Sanji stares out at the endless blue, can see all the colorful fish swimming below through the clear water, the untapped potential in its depths just waiting here for him.
He turns to face his captain, tears streaming unbidden down his face.
“It’s perfect.”
