Work Header

My Insides are Red (and yours are too)

Summary:

When Tyler’s breakout from the security van got to the news, Wednesday was intrigued to say the least. Her plan was simple: find him, capture him, study him. Fill some pages up with informations about the Hyde and, why not, torture him a little bit.
But things got out of hand and now they’re obsessed with each other.
Oh, I almost forgot— Xavier is spoiled and annoyingly jealous.

Notes:

I'm currently on 3 hours of sleep and have a closing shift ahead of me. Help.
I couldn't resist this idea and sleep suddenly became optional, so ignore any mistakes pretty please. :)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Wednesday was polishing her cello when she heard a knock on the door.

She got up, closing her polishing kit and placing it on her desk before heading to the door.

Tyler’s smile is the first thing she sees after the door is open and she forces her lips to stay in a thin line. She steps to the side, letting him in and his irresistible scent fills her nostrils as he walks by.

He used to smell like coffee and cinnamon with a hint of pine, but Tyler has been on the run for a while now and his scent changed; now he smells like rain, like blood, like death.

Thankfully she likes all of the above, even if she has to admit she misses his old scent. That was the Tyler she first knew, the pure and kind barista that took her heart and brewed it like he skillfully did with his coffee beans, transforming it into a liquid mess whenever he was around her.

She closed the door and faced him. He looked good, as always, but his appearance had changed a bit in the last few months. His clothes weren’t perfectly clean, since he now had to clean them himself by hand, and his hair weren’t perfectly tidy and soft, but he was still his charming self. He had found an old shack in the forest, similar to the one Xavier used but a bit smaller and without electricity. Thankfully It was big enough to fit a small mattress, a little table and a nook in which he could start a fire if necessary. He had been alternating between staying there and going out of town for a while, trying not to draw too much attention by trying to keep his Hyde under control.

That particular task got exponentially better as time passed. It was a mess at first, he couldn’t even let a day pass without feeling the Hyde’s need for blood. He would transform without warning, kill off something (or someone, as it once happened) to then coming back to his senses cold and covered in blood. He had felt exactly how he did at the beginning with Laurel, confused and hopeless. That was until Wednesday found him. She liked to torture him for research purposes, but he found her methods endearing and actually helpful to keep control of the Hyde. And, she was often with him. It was a win win situation.

She observed him as he looked around, scanning every inch of the room. He glanced everywhere, walking slowly to take it all in.

“Were you expecting something more crude?” She asks, eyes piercing into his.

This is the first time he enters her dorm room after all. He had gotten a peek of it at the Rave’N, but that was almost a year ago now.

He got closer to her desk, ghosting his hand over her dear typewriter.

“No,” he then shifts his focus on the polishing kit, still half open. “This reflects you well. I like it.”

She doesn’t say anything, instead opting to pick up the polishing kit, putting it back in its designated place in the third drawer of her desk.

“How long have you had this cello for?”

She turns to face him and she finds him observing said instrument, without touching it. She mentally thanks him for being considerate of her things.

“About four years now. It was a birthday gift from my parents.”

He nods, “and did you learn to play after you got it, or you already knew how to play it before?”

Wednesday didn’t know why the sudden interest for her cello, but she loved the instrument so she didn’t mind answering his questions. “Both. I already knew the basics but I learned a lot more after I got it.”

“Mm.” He turned around, slowly approaching her. His eyes never left hers as he tucked her side bangs behind her ear, leaning in to kiss her cheek.

Her whole body shivered.

She blinked.

So, here’s the thing. When the news about Tyler escaping the van broke out, everyone was pretty shocked. You know, a Hyde with no control and no master roaming around wasn’t really seen as a good thing in Jericho. Wednesday seemed to be the only one who wasn’t afraid. Quite the contrary, actually: she was thrilled. She wanted to find him, chain him up, and study him. Why not, torture him even. The last time she had tried she was interrupted too soon.

And so that’s what she did. She had found him and chained him and tortured him, with the final purpose being studying him to complete the diary and fill it with every characteristics she could about Hydes. And she did everything all on her own, without letting a single soul know.

But there was something she hadn’t thought about at the time, something that would have inevitably ruined them both: Attraction.

Because, you see, Wednesday was very much attracted to him, and even if she swore to never act on that matter, she didn’t have much of a choice. Torturing him was her favorite pastime and she found herself unable to think about anything else but him after barely four days after capturing him.

Not even a two weeks later their torture session ended up morphing into make out sessions, and it didn’t take them long to cross the very thin line between painful torture and pleasurable one.

They have been keeping this thing between them a secret from everyone ever since and she was really surprised no one had discovered it yet. Of course it was a good thing, if someone found out they would probably take him away (away from her, for her safety), and put him behind bars or kill him. Or put him behind bars and then kill him. But it didn’t metter, ‘cause no-one knew.

They usually met either in the woods or in his little hideout (so, still in the woods), but since Enid was with Ajax for a “much needed mini vacation over the weekend!” she couldn’t resist but to invite Tyler over.

And now his lips were on her collarbone, his hand was tugging at her braid from behind her back to keep her head at the right angle, and her eyes were closed in delight.

She felt him suck against her neck and her toes curled in her boots, her breathing accelerating as she circled his neck with her arm, keeping him where he was.

His kisses were like poison on her skin, turning her blood into lava and making lust erupt inside of her.

She wanted to burn him with her lava.

She wanted to drown him in her blood.

She wanted him to drown her in his own, wanted to beg him to do just that right now—

His lips have left her. His body is no longer pressed on hers.

She feels cold.

She almost smiles.

They’ve been trying different types of torture and this one was one of the worsts so far— abruptly cutting off arousal at the worst time. It worked especially well if one of them was chained up, preferably him. She loved tearing him apart, watching him as he miserably tried to touch her, to inch himself a little closer, get him to beg her for a release. She loved the look in his face as she granted it to him. It wasn’t as pleasant when she was at the receiving end of it, but torture is torture and she can’t not respect that.

She opened her eyes, looking straight into his. He was still pretty close, not even a step away from her, but he wasn’t touching her.

He turned around, facing her desk with her typewriter being the only thing on it. There was not even one paper in sight, not even in the typewriter itself.

Wednesday noticed his curiosity. “I finished it.”

At this, Tyler faced her again. “You did?” His tone was surprisingly soft, shifting completely from the heavy atmosphere from just moments before.

“That’s what I just said.” Wednesday opened the first drawer of the desk, revealing a black, somewhat thin carrying case with her initials on it. “You need to pay more attention.”

His eyes scanned her face before concentrating to the carrying case, making half a step to reach it. He guessed that was where she kept her work. “Can I?”

“No.” Was her immediate response. He was a bit taken aback, but stepped back nonetheless. She closed the drawer.

“Why are men all the same? Informing people I’ve finished my work doesn’t mean I want to share it with them.” Her tone was irritated, but she was glad he took the hint.

Tyler blinked.

Men?

“What do you mean?”

She looked conflicted for a second, as if she was contemplating if telling him or not. He heard her huff. “Xevier overheard the information today in class and insisted I let him read it.”

At the name, Tyler’s attention shot up, a silent rage coming to the surface. “Him, again? He’s always around you! Does he even have a life?”

“Unfortunately, I think not.” She said, annoyed. “He was quite pressing, too.”

Tyler was about to explode. Was it so hard to leave Wednesday alone? It was clear she wasn’t interested. What was wrong with Xavier? Couldn’t he see?

He was almost panting, the Hyde raging in him. If he wasn’t on the run he would have gladly slit the boy’s throat open.

“Stop that.” She snapped, getting closer. “It makes you look like a spoiled baby. Just like Xavier is.” She placed her palms on his chest and he tried to regain control over his anger. He found it easier when she was with him.

“You’re not like him, are you?” She asked, her voice clinical.

“Most certainly not,” he responded, tugging her chin up. She leaned her body against his and she felt Tyler release a shaky breath. “And you can confirm, right?”

“Who says that?”

He smiled, slowly caressing her face from her chin to her cheek before leaving it there. “You would never be attracted to a spoiled baby.”

The corners of her lips went up the slightest bit and she went on her tiptoes, her lips ghosting over his as she whispered. “I suppose you’re right.”

His free arm went around her back, fully pressing their bodies together and their lips crashed In the middle, fitting perfectly like two pieces of the same puzzle.

It had been so long since they last kissed like this, passionately but soft, sweet, like real lovers did.

Because Wednesday knew, they weren’t lovers. She would never call him her boyfriend, and would never want him to call her his girlfriend. Those terms seemed so belittling to her. They had gone through so much together and simply labeling each other boyfriend and girlfriend made their connection seem bland, when she knew for a fact it was not.

Being lovers of course didn’t only mean being boyfriend and girlfriend, there was so much more— going on dates, presenting them to each other’s families and knowing their friends, spending quality time together.. this last one they did, but that was about it.

Tyler wasn’t exactly Jericho’s favorite citizen, everyone wanted him either dead or imprisoned and her friends.. well, he didn’t really know. They never talked about her friends’ opinion of him, since they never needed to have them approve of anything.

Sometimes he wished they could tell someone, anyone, just to make it feel a little more real. But then he remembers that Wednesday’s approval is all that he needs and everything else fades in the background.

Wednesday, even if always in black and white, is in the center of his dreams every night.

They pulled apart slowly, and Tyler’s eyes found hers already looking at him. They were glittering. He is sure his are too.

His heart swells.

He’ll never not be mesmerized by her.

She kisses him once more, a simple peck that makes his heart flutter before pulling away.

“So,” he inhales. “I get that I can’t read it, but I want at least a spoiler.”

She wants to chuckle. “It doesn’t work like that.”

“Oh c’mon. It doesn’t need to be anything big. Just one little tiny spoiler.” He’s pushing it, he knows, but he sees her thinking and he knows he won.

“Well, I suppose I can tell you— she does end up with a love interest by the end.”

At that, Tyler is pleasantly surprised. His eyebrows shot up, “really?”

She wants to roll her eyes. ”Yes, Tyler, really. I told you, you need to pay more attention.”

He brings up his hands in surrender, smiling. “Sorry, sorry. Can I.. umm. Ask what is name is?”

She doesn’t respond immediately, and Tyler wonders if she’s really thinking about telling him. He’s genuinely curious. Did she insert a love interest because of him? He knows he shouldn’t think so highly of himself but he can’t help it. She never wanted romance to be a part of her novel as far as he knows, but now there’s a sudden love interest? He finds it pretty intriguing.

“His name is Hunter.” She says finally, so rushed he was barely able to catch it.

He nods, smiling. “That’s pretty fitting. Though I admit, I was expecting something more unique.”

She frowned, and he hurries to elaborate. “Hunter is a good name, but it sounds.. how should I put it— a bit too normal, don’t you think?

She looks at him blankly, and suddenly he can’t help but smirk.

“Have you, perhaps, taken someone as an inspiration?”

She studies him, no expression on her face.

So he thinks he is the inspiration for Hunter. And to be honest with herself, he is.

She put everything she disgustingly adores about Tyler in Hunter, and modified some characteristics to make him a good match for Viper. She had spent hours just to decide if it was worth trying and decided to keep the character because she had wasted too much time on him to just end up deleting him from the story (and also because she liked him, but she doesn’t need to bring that up).

Tyler is looking at her with that demoniac smirk of his and she really wants to bite that off his face. Even if he is Hunter, he doesn’t have the right to be so annoyingly teasing about it.

He takes a step closer. Then two.

That smirk is still there.

She wants to stab him.

She tilts her head imperceptibly on the side, her eyes sill fixed on him. “Thing” she calls and the appendice turns towards her from his magazine. “lock the door.” She says stiffly, voice as emotionless as she can but it’s all useless because she’s kissing him a second later, soft and firm and hot and sweet all at once. The coldness from her hands seeping though the thin fabric of his shirt where they lay, his hands finding their place on her back and he feels like he’s dreaming.

The kisses are hungry and wet and hot and Wednesday is so completely and utterly into this boy she can’t think straight. She feels his hands all over her and it’s making her feel dizzy, and the feeling is so distracting— she pushes him on her bed. He collides on it with a dramatic thump, and she’s on top of him in less than a second, kissing him with a hunger she always feels only when he’s around.

Tyler doesn’t certainly hold back, pushing their bodies together firmly, one hand pressing on her back and the other on the back of her neck while his lips hungrily follow her lead, wanting to swallow her whole— she jerks her hips against his and he wants to scream. He hisses against her lips instead.

He feels her smirk against his hiss as she rolls her hips once more, harder, and he stiffens, burying his face in her neck.

“God, Wednesday—“

She doesn’t stop, her own breaths coming out shorter and more frantic, pulling his face deeper into the crock of her neck.

“Hush.” Her voice is purring in his ear and he feels the bulge in his pants growing.

Tyler tried to keep himself busy by devouring her neck but it’s somewhat useless when Wednesday is basically making a mess out of him, and he can’t even talk now.

She wants him quiet.

That thought alone makes this a thousand times hotter.

Her moving seems to come to a more decent peace now, and he feels her warm lips leaving short kisses on his head, in his hair, his forehead.

His heart aches.

She leans back to look at him, her black eyes filled with lust lock into his, equally dripping with desire. She grabs his chin in her hands and crashes their lips together, electricity spreading in their bodies like they just got hit by lightning.

If only he could stop time and live in this moment forever, he would.

There’s a sound behind them. A faint cracking. He picks it up immediately but thinks nothing of it. Wednesday didn’t seem to notice. But then they both notice ‘cause there’s a voice coming from right behind them.

“-sorry for today, I shouldn’t hav—“

Tyler is facing the window and sees him.

Xavier.

Appearing from the passage from the balcony of the room.

Opening it like it was his.

His hold on Wednesday’s hip hardened. She looked down at him, covering his hand with hers. She, however, doesn’t even turn around.

There’s silence for what seems like forever, before Xavier finally realizes what he walked into.

“What the fuck is going on?”

Not Wednesday nor Tyler move. Tyler would want to. He would love to actually; his Hyde was dying to kill the boy in front of him. Wednesday gives him a hard stare and he knows exactly what that means: contain yourself. And, for extension, I’ll handle it.

She barely looks at Xavier’s direction. “Get out.” Her tone is cold, bitter. No further question.

But Xavier ignores her, his voice ringing in both their ears. “What does this mean? What do you think you’re doing? He tried to kill you, for God’s sake!”

“Get. Out.” A threat, Tyler thinks, while stuck in the same position like he’s been frozen in place. He would love to take care of him himself, but he knows Wednesday wants to handle this herself; he will step in only if necessary.

Xavier’s tone is incredulous. “I can’t believe-“ He huffs, Tyler observes him with hatred as he passes a hand through his hair in frustration. “You know what? I’ll go to the mayor. The sheriff’s not going to help much, but i’m sure the new mayor will do something abo—“

Everything happens so fast. Tyler shivers, Wednesday’s body heat gone in an instant and suddenly she’s standing, yanking Xavier close to her, grabbing him by his shirt with one hand and placing her knife o his throat with the other.

“No one is going to know. Do you hear me?” Her voice glacial.

“You can’t possibly think I’ll ignor—“

She presses the knife hard enough to cut his skin open and blood starts to pour from the cut. Xavier whines.

“No one will know.” Wednesday moves the knife slowly into the cut, deepening it before sliding it away and back on again. “Are we clear?”

Xavier doesn’t speak, but his face says it all: I don’t like what you’re doing, I hate that monster and I would very much ruin his life and his chances with you if I could. But he has a cut on his throat and the knife is still there and very much intimidating, so he knows better than to retort.

She lets him go, pushing him away harshly, “Out.”  She orders, walking back to the bed.

Tyler watched as the other boy moved his head in pure disappointment and disgust before turning away, pushing open the window.

“Xavier,” Her dark beauty says, still facing her back to the boy she’s talking to.

He stops in his movements, one leg already out of the window. “If anyone will know anything about this, you’re done.” A pause. “Understood?”

She doesn’t turn around but hears him huff, before hearing the window being closed again.

She finally gets closer to the bed, kneeling before it Instead of crawling on top of it.

Tyler is a bit disappointed, he would have liked continuing their previous activity but the mood had very clearly shifted.

She takes his hands, playing with his fingers for a second before intertwining them together. “If he talks, you’ll kill him.” She looks at him, her eyes piercing into his soul with a lure so strong he wants to skin her alive. She brings their intertwined hands up to her lips, kissing the back of his hand, “you’ll kill him for me.”

Something in Tyler stirrers at her words and he suppresses the urge to do what she just asked.

You’ll kill him for me.

Yes. I will. He wants to say, wants to beg for her to ask him to do just that and he’ll bring back Xavier’s heart for her to squash in her hands. But he’s scared the boy might spill something despite her threats. He never trusted him and they never got along.

“What if he really talks and they kill me first?” He manages to get out, caressing Wednesday’s hands.

She smirks, one of those smirks that looks magnificent on her, the ones that say oh, don’t you get it already? , the ones that make him feel so stupid, like the answer is so obvious he must have lost his mind if he really doesn’t get it.

She gets up, not letting his hand go, and climbs up on top of him again.

Her body heat warms his up immediately like a blanket and the feeling is thrillingly magnificent, like when you return to bed in the middle of the night after getting a glass of water.

She looks at him with that smirk still there and he feels so stupid, wants to know what she’s thinking. What, he want to ask, wants to know more than anything, what is it that I’m not catching up to?

Her body is pressing down on his, their chests are touching and his breath is becoming heavier. His free hand settles on her hip and she exhales, her breath on his neck as she moves her head to the side, her lips near his ear.

“I’m the only one who can kill you.”

Her tone is like a purr in his ear, her voice has never sounded so provocative and he’s positive he might just come from this alone. And they’re still fully clothed.

Wednesday immediately notices his body’s reaction and bites his ear, unable to stop her smirk from widening just a tiny bit.

“It appears I chose the right words.”

He suppresses a moan, pulling his shirt up. “You always do.”

I know it's not the second part of Sheriff Galpin and the fine art of interrupting but I promise that's coming too. I just don't know when.
I hope you liked this at least a bit, have a nice day and always remember to sleep more than 3 hours if you have a closing shift ahead!
