Of Vampires and Wizards year 1

Summary:

I just feel like these next few years are going to be troublesome. Who would let a vampire into a wizard school, especially the son of count Dracula?

I have read so many different versions of this crossover and I have fallen in love with it.

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Vlad's POV

"All my life I've wanted to fit in.

To be ordinary.

So I thought moving to a new town would be my chance... a chance to be normal.

But I was forgetting one little thing-

... I'm a vampire."

The past week had been endless arguing and complaining, driving up the windy hills of Stokely until the hearse finally stopped.

"Home sweet home..." I said, looking at the ruined remains of the castle that we'd now be calling home- well, before we get chased out again by another angry peasant mob.

I got out the vehicle and stretched, letting my legs get their long deserved freedom. Renfield was the first through the door, wheeling Dad's coffin with him. I grabbed my bags and followed, with Ingrid looking unimpressed as she crossed her arms and scowled at the door.

The coffin door opened and Dad looked around.

"Well here we are, at last." He says as he looks around, eyes gliding from one side to another as he inspects his new castle. "Hmm, it not exactly what I was expecting. I mean, where are the cobwebs... the damp?! The rotting corpses...?"

"Look Dad, you just said 'find a castle.' It was the best I could find on the internet at short notice." I replied, remembering how I had to sneak into a public library to use a computer.

He finally stepped out, as the screams of past victims echoed throughout as dad placed his first steps on the castle's brick floor. I looked around the main hall, trying not to flinch at the dreaded sounds. "Well I suppose I'll feel better once I've had someone to eat." He finally replied as Renfield scurried away.

I sighed and turned towards the door. "Right, I'll get my things. Bagsy the tower room!" I commented towards Ingrid, knowing she would take the bait.

"Err, I don't think so - I'm the eldest, I'm having that one." she said quick to reply.

I turned to face her. "But I called it." I replied.

"When?" she snapped back, her brows furrowed.

"In the hearse." I replied, not wanting to lose the argument.

She scoffed and quickly thought of the traditional line that every older sibling knows "Right! Well... I called it before you were born! So... kiss my cape." She replied, turning away.

Dad, having had enough of our bickering, piped up.

"Please, this is very simple- Vladimir will have the room."

I smirked in my victory. "Brilliant. Oh Ingrid, I do believe your about to chew on that!" I turned to grab the rest of my things and went up to my new room, leaving Ingrid to herself to fuss.

The tower rooms always had the best views - back in Transylvania, there wasn't much to look at apart from trees and a small village that I would occasionally sneak out to visit. But this view was new - the small town had everything I thought normal was.

Zoltan rolled up towards the window to look out. "See? Semi-detached houses... streetlights... a newsagent... a golf course! It's all so normal!" I said identifying everything to him as the old stuffed hellhound listened, absorbing what I was saying. "Right. New life, new neighbourhood. Time to check 'em both out." I said, excited to adventure out.

Zoltan, always being a voice of reason, said, "But Vladimir, your father has forbidden us from leaving the castle. We need to keep a low profile."

I looked towards him and smirked, already knowing what to say. "Zoltan, I'm a preteen vampire! That means I've got the reflexes of a night hunter, combined with the incredible ability to sneak out behind my parents back!"

Zoltan sighed and shook his head as I left the room.

I could hear dad yelling at Renfield when I crept down the stairs. With him being distracted, it was my best chance to run through the kitchen and to the back door.

As soon as the door was finally in reach, he appeared out of nowhere. "Going somewhere?" He asked calmly.

"Yeah, just... poppin' out." I replied as I continued towards the door, knowing that he couldn't follow me once I reached the daylight. But of course vampires have to be quick, because as soon as I was able to open the door and step one foot outside, his arm wrapped around my chest. He cried out in pain and smoke started to emerge from his arm as he dragged me back through the door.

"You're not going anywhere young vampire, go to your room!" He shouted as he pointed away from the door.

"But Dad," I moaned. Sighing in defeat, I turned around and walked back towards my room.

"You know which room is yours don't you? It's the one that should be mine!" I hear Ingrid yell as I walked past her, still being petty as normal. Renfield ran towards dad with a bucket full of water, but I didn't wait around to find out what would happen as I stormed up the stairs.

McGonagall's POV

The final school term was coming to an end, and the students were finishing their last exams. I was sat in my office grading some of the first years papers - it was the start of June, and the sun was flooding through the long windows.

There was an excitedness in the air as the students were getting ready for the coming summer holidays. Just as I was about to start another page, Albus stumbled through the door "you'll want to come have a look at this" he said, confusion written on his face

We both entered the smallest tower on the eastern side of Hogwarts and my eyes caught what I'm guessing was the reason why he came looking for me, I made eye contact "what do you suppose this means?" I questioned towards the book of admittance, between the first few pages there was a bright glowing. Albus approached the the book and peeled the dragon hide bound cover to the page that was illuminated. There was a new name that appeared between the names of other children that where due to start in the coming September "Vladimir Dracula" I read out between the yellowing pages my brows furrowed as I try to remember where i had heard of that surname before. "The Dracula clan" Albus replied, then it hit me and my face paled, the most well known vampire clan from eastern Europe "Why is there a Vampire in the book, Never mind in England" I said in disbelief looking up to Albus showing my worry for the coming year on my face "He must be powerful enough to need more than just basic vampire training" his face never left the page as he read the name over and over again and sighed "the book has written down the name of every magical child since the founders of Hogwarts, this child, even if he is soon to be a vampire needs our help to teach him control his magic" he said as I sighed, 'always with the guilt trip' I thought feeling dread in the pit of my stomach "I will arrange a visit to meet this child within the next few days" I said as I walked away from Albus and the book, I could feel a headache starting to form from the stress.

No Ones POV

The castles bell rang once and the young boy who was sat sulking on his bed in the highest tower was intrigued and looked towards the stuffed were-hound "Well there goes another post man" he spoke and looked out of his window, the sun was up and the air was warm. he enjoyed the the warmth on his skin knowing to take in as much as he can. "VLADAMIR!" the voice of his father shook through the castle walls and the boy walked towards the door to walk down the narrow staircase to meet the voice.

When he entered the throne room he was met by his father sitting on his throne and a tall strangely dressed woman wearing a green cloak and pointy hat standing Infront of his father "I presume you are Vladimir Dracula" she spoke with a soft Scottish accent as her eyes interrogated the young boy who nodded stunned by the woman's presence. she smiled noticing the young boys nervousness "my name is Professor McGonagall and I am here from Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry" she said holding out a white letter the young boy took it and read the front "But I'm not a wizard" he said confused looking towards his father wanting answers "Vladdie, my boy!" he praised as he sped over to his son "sometimes young vampires are powerful enough to be accepted by wizarding schools, although its a rare case" the older woman stared at the older vampire being cautious "Vladimir will be the first vampire recorded to attended Hogwarts" this made the boy look between the two adults he finally spoke out "I'm sorry, but I want to be normal" this stunned the witch and angered his father "You disappoint me son" his face turned. "If I may Mr Dracula, I would like to have a word with Vladimir in private" the older vampire nodded and sped out the throne room.

The young vampire watched his father exit and the witch sighed "now that you father is gone, speak your mind freely" she smiled softly encouraging the boy to speak his opinion. he shuffled on his feet as she walked over and put a hand on his shoulder "I don't want to be a vampire or a wizard" he spoke quietly. the woman looked sadly at the young boy "why is that?" she tried to make the boy continue he looked down at the floor "I want to fit in, to have friends, to be able to enjoy being out in the sunlight" his face reddened and tears started to form in the corners of his eyes, the older woman felt sympathy for this young boy and rubbed his shoulder in comfort  "I know I don't understand what you are going through right now but you can make as many friends at Hogwarts and go outside when you don't have lessons. This chance you are being given will bring you so many new and exciting opportunities" the young boy looked up with hope in his eyes and the woman continued "plus it will get you away from your father for most of the year" the boy let out a quiet laugh as he brushed his tears away. "Thank you for this chance and not judging me" he croaked,  she smiled "the letter will tell you everything you need to know, I will be back on the 31st of July to take you to get your supplies for the school year"  she patted my shoulder and walked out of the throne room towards the door.

he opened the letter she had given and smiled
