Black Coffee

Summary:

Kylo Ren thought he would have a fun week of flirting with the hot redhead who unexpectedly appeared in his life.

Too bad she had other plans for him.

Notes:

Welcome to my very first attempt at writing anything related to fanfic...or smut.

There's a fun tale of how this fic came to me, but I'll save that for the end notes so as to not spoil some elements of the story. But let's just say, I didn't think the first fic I would post to the world would be a dark one.

Please mind the tags, friends!

A HUGE thank you to @TheSparklingWay & @Marsaphire on the bird app for betaing this, and for my work friend Rachel who read is enthusiastically waiting for me to finish the next chapter.

And for Addison Clarke for always encouraging me.

And with that...let's get started.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Kylo Ren waited on the arrivals sidewalk of JFK International Airport, freezing his ass off. His driver, Mitaka should have already been here, with the Escalade warm and a black coffee in the cup holder in the backseat. After a week of back-to-back business meetings in London, Kylo was dead on his feet, but it was only 1:00 New York time. Snoke would expect him to show up at the office for a few hours of work. So, going home to shower off the plane was out of the question. A nap? Kylo might as well have asked for his boss to roll over and show his belly. Non negotiable.

Where the hell was Mitaka ? The sky was threatening snow with storm clouds rolling in and it was barely 20 degrees. Maybe he could slip some bourbon into that coffee once he got back to First Order headquarters to warm up.

A redhead with sunglasses standing next to what looked like his normal SUV caught his eye. A ginger. Redheads weren’t the type he normally sought the company of but maybe he could charm his way into her front seat if Mitaka didn’t show up soon. Kylo knew that he could manage it; he had a way of charming people into what he wanted them to do. A few hundred-dollar bills in her pocket for the inconvenience to take him along with her passengers and he would be out of the cold and on his way to Manhattan. When she seemed to notice him looking at her, she pushed herself off from leaning against the Escalade and rose to her full height. He was surprised by how tall she was; her legs were long and lean wrapped in tight black fabric.

“Mr. Ren?” she called out across the busy sidewalk.

Oh. Well, then

Kylo flashed his fake, charming smile her way and nodded. “In the flesh, miss.” He adjusted his leather briefcase over his left shoulder and reached for his rolling bag.

“Here, let me.” The redhead had made good use of her long legs to get to Kylo quickly. She made to reach for the handle while looking up at him. Her head had to tilt back a little, and he felt a bit mischievous at that.

Her face finally came into his full view, and he noticed just how her dark sunglasses shielded her eyes completely. He couldn’t even see the outline of them. Weird, but maybe she had eye problems.

“I’m so sorry for the confusion, Mr. Ren. Unfortunately, Mitaka seems to have come down with the flu. Our company sent me to assist you today and for as many days as it takes him to recover. I hope the change is satisfactory to you. I can contact my supervisors if not.” She glanced at him and crooked her head to the left as if challenging him to confirm she measured up.

Kylo smiled down at her. “I’m very sorry to hear about Mitaka, but I’m sure you and I will get along just fine over the next few days.” He winked and waited to see if she would respond to his come-on.

She grinned, something that reminded him of sunshine and pearly whites. “Oh, I’m sure we will, Mr. Ren. I warmed the car up and made sure both backseats had heat on. I didn’t know which seat you normally preferred.” Kylo thought she also winked back at him, but he couldn’t be sure because of those ridiculous sunglasses.

She pulled his luggage behind her and grabbed his briefcase. He couldn’t help but notice her peachy ass that was very nicely highlighted in her black tuxedo style pants.

This was going to be a very interesting few days, he thought as he opened the back passenger side door. His little redhead placed his luggage and briefcase in the trunk and then moved around the car quickly.

“Alright Mr. Ren, all buckled up? Mitaka informed me that you would need to be taken straight to the office. Based on traffic, we should be at your office in 45 minutes. Do you need to make any stops along the way?”

Kylo clicked his seatbelt, although he normally didn’t bother. He didn’t want to get on this one’s bad side and something about her told him she was a rule follower. “Uh no, I’m ok. But love, you never gave me your name, and I’d feel bad if I didn’t know what to call you. Especially since we’re going to be spending a few days together.”

“Oh sorry sir, my name is Kira.” She smiled, but this time her teeth remained unseen.

Kylo smirked. “Well Kira, I very much look forward to you…riding around with me the next few days.” He hoped she acknowledged the innuendo. This week was truly looking up. Even if nothing happened with her, it was fun to play with someone.

She chortled back. “Oh Mr. Ren, I think we’re going to have a lot of fun this week.” The left side of her mouth lifted in a smirk. “Oh, sir! I forgot! Mitaka also let me know you always request a black coffee, extra hot. I remembered, just forgot to place it back there.”

She grabbed the disposable cup from her drink holder and twisted in her seat to carefully hand it to him. When he reached for it, Kylo made sure to let his hands envelop her small ones for a few seconds more than what was necessary. Under the bottom rim of her sunglasses, he noticed her cheeks pinken.

Oh yes, the next few days were going to be very fun.

She turned back around, adjusted her seatbelt, and pulled away from the curb. As she looked in the rearview mirror, Kira said “please let me know if your coffee is up to your standards, Mr. Ren. I would be happy to make any adjustments needed. Also, I would be happy to change the temperature or anything else to make your ride more comfortable.” The way she lowered her voice when she said ‘anything else’ made him shiver.

Kylo took a sip of his coffee, appreciating the steaming temperature. She was good. He told her so.

His lovely redheaded driver seemed to feel comfortable enough to try small talk. “So sir, tell me more about yourself. What exactly is it that you do in Midtown Manhattan that allows for personal drivers and overseas travel?”

God , why weren’t all conversations with women this easy? They always wanted to talk about themselves.

“Ah, my lovely, I am a business developer. I buy out small companies and merge them together, then sell off what isn’t needed. I’ve been with First Order Developers since I graduated from grad school 10 years ago. It’s…certainly allowed me a certain lifestyle that I enjoy.” A very enjoyable lifestyle indeed.

Kira nodded. “Sounds interesting. Are you from here? Grow up in the city?”

“No, no, sweet Kira. I’m not a city boy. I’m from upstate, a town called Chandrila. You’ve probably never heard of it. I’m the best thing that ever came out of there.” Kylo hadn’t been home since he left for grad school, but with his success, he knew it.

She hummed. “Parents still there?”

“Haha, good question. I haven’t spoken to them since I went to grad school. Lots of conflicts. Much too boring to talk about.” Kylo made it a point to look out the window, to emphasize it wasn’t a topic he wanted to talk about any longer. However, he did notice that Kira pulled a banana from beside her on the passenger side seat. Hmm, it was a bit strange that she was going to eat with him in the car. That was something Mitaka never did, but he wasn’t going to be too hung up over it. He wasn’t that much of a prick.

She started to peel the banana using both hands, which she managed while using her knee to keep the steering wheel in place. There was only one woman, someone deep in his past that could do that with ease. Fucking hell, as if he didn’t think about her every day. Now this woman, this Kira, was imitating something she had done with such ease. It hurt to remember those days of sitting next to her in the car, holding her hand while she drove with her knee. Kylo shook his head to force himself back to the present.

He was so far into his head that he barely registered her next question. “…sorry to hear that. Do you enjoy what you do? Buying those smaller companies, merging them, then selling off whatever is left?”

Was there an edge to her voice? Kylo’s head began to feel a little fuzzy, so he took another sip of coffee. Hopefully, he could sneak out of the office at a decent time and get a good night’s sleep. Caffeine would have to hold him over until then.

“It makes me feel powerful if that’s what you’re asking. I like being in charge.” He winked, still keeping up with their act.

“Ah, so it’s the power that you’re after, Mr. Ren?” Kira had finished peeling the banana and brought it to her mouth. She circled her tongue around the tip a few times. “I like to feel powerful too,” she acknowledged, before putting her rosy lips around the banana to take a bite.

Fuck-ing hell. She was meeting him beat for beat and damn, he hadn’t had this much fun in a long time. It was making him feel hot, and his mouth felt dry. He took another sip of his coffee before trying to meet her eyes in the mirror.

“I may have met my match in you, love. Would you mind turning the heat down a bit? I’m feeling a little hot.” Kylo licked his lips and hoped she was watching.

“Absolutely, sir. I hope I’m not being too forward.” She moved the banana to her left hand so she could fiddle with the temperature controls. “I hope that’s better. I must admit, I’m interested in what you do. What happens to the people of the companies that you buy and then sell off?” She turned back to look at him.

“Oh baby, trust me when I tell you, it’s nothing to worry about. We pay enough for the employees to be well compensated. Most of the companies I acquire are on their last leg, so it’s a blessing for First Order Development to come in and take care of the mess. Some of the owners send me Christmas cards,” Kylo replied.

His head was starting to spin, and his eyes suddenly felt heavy. Apparently, he was much more tired than he thought. Maybe he could grab a 10-minute power nap on the couch in his office before he had to meet with Snoke to report back on the meetings.

“But what about the owners who don’t want to sell? I’m sure there must be some?” she probed.

Kylo felt sweat forming on his forehead and under his pits. Hell he could feel sweat forming everywhere. Could Mitaka have passed the flu to him? But that seemed unlikely, he hadn’t seen his driver in a week. He certainly would have experienced flu symptoms in London before now. His hand went to his tie to try to loosen it.

“Uh, there are owners who are resistant to being taken over, but my company and I don’t really give them a choice.” Kylo felt sweat drip down his long hair. What the fuck?

Kira sat silently for a few seconds, chewing her banana before responding. “Well, that’s too bad.”

“What’s too bad?” He took another sip of coffee, then put it down to try to take off his coat. He was so dizzy just from putting the cup down, he thought he had spilt his coffee.

“It’s too bad you don’t care.”

Uh what?

She must have seen his eyes snap to her reflection in the mirror because she quickly said, “How are you feeling, sir?” The sir came out pointed and sharp.

He couldn’t help but chuckle, even after he felt as shitty as he did. “I don’t feel the greatest, Miss Kira. Why do you ask?”

She licked her lips and then rubbed them against each other like she was applying lipstick. “Oh good, it’s working.”

Kylo had started to roll up his shirt sleeves after he managed to rid himself of his coat and his suit jacket, but his hands stilled. “What’s working, doll?”

“The benzodiazepines I put in your coffee,“ Kira replied matter-of-factly. “Mr. Ren, you’ve been very naughty.”

“The actual fuck?!” Feeling a little alert, Kylo tried jerking in his seatbelt, but it seemed locked against him. Damnit to hell those stupid child lock things.

“What, you don’t want to be bad anymore and flirt with your driver? But we were having so much fun.” Kira was exiting the highway. He hadn’t even noticed she had switched lanes, with his head feeling like it was filled with lead.

“Not when she’s a psycho, I don’t! Let me the fuck out of this car now, bitch!” Kylo pulled the door handle, but of course it was locked. He looked around to see if he could use anything against her. Nothing. His bag with his keys was in the trunk. Shit. She had made sure he didn’t have it. Where was his phone? He couldn’t remember. He had been too focused on her to pay attention to his phone.

He estimated he had at least 100 pounds and seven inches on her, but it wouldn’t do much good if she had drugged him. And that was if he somehow managed to get out of the goddamn seatbelt.

Kira clicked her tongue and shook her head, “Oh not yet babe, I have some questions for you, and I will get the answers I want, one way or another.”

He snorted. “What, you’re going to torture me? Trust me, pain doesn’t scare me, you whore.” Kylo sincerely hoped the switch in his behavior and his advances toward her would get under her skin. Maybe enough to stop whatever the hell she was doing.

Kira laughed softly and then looked back at him in the mirror again. “Oh babe, I’m not going to torture you with pain. I’m going to drive you mad with pleasure. Trust me, I’ll get what I want, sir .”

Then everything went black.
