Chapter Text
Nei and Dark Schneider have been together for a long time, a 100 years long.
She found him in the forest. Grubby hands grabbing the nearest warmth to her small body. Tiny eyes, barely opened, looking at a cat-eyed man's face. His hair was long and white, it reminded Nei of her mothers.
Nei wanted to ask for help–to call out to this figure who stood so high over her, and beg for some kind of safety in him–but she didn’t.
Her throat was too sore from crying, and her body hurt all over. She just wanted some rest. She didn’t have the fortitude to do anything, but hold on and hope. Hope that the person she found would see that she needed someone.
So, Nei held on with all the power she could, as consciousness slowly but surely left her.
___
Dark glared at the passed out girl that clung still to his cape. Sucking his teeth, he pulled it out of her fingers.
“Kids these days I swear, haven’t they ever heard of strangers being dangerous,” he said to himself. No one was around to hear–he mostly traveled alone these days– memory fuzzy and generally untrustworthy. Dark had been sort of wondering the past few days.
Dark kneeled down to the girl, placing the back of his finger to her nose. And in feeling a faint– but real–breath, he released his and rolled his eyes. Idiot child, who the hell passes out in the middle of the forest, in front of someone you just met.
Dark gets up from the ground, and twisted his face in thought. He looked over the girl– trying to see what could’ve possibly made her pass out–finally getting a better look at the kid. He saw the bloody spots and burning on the edges of her clothes. He was reminded of the smoke he saw earlier that day, she must’ve come from there.
Dark Schneider felt something come over him, that he hadn’t felt in a long time. Pity.
