Work Text:

Ahsoka let out a growl as she fell into her bed.

Two months was the time she was away from the Temple, the campaign they had was difficult, but surprisingly without many casualties.

For 2 months she had wanted to return to Temple.

However, when Hawk dropped them off at the temple hangar she didn't feel that warmth and excitement that she felt times before.

She felt... Incomplete, she felt and wanted to go home. Which was wrong because her home was the Temple and she's in the Temple, so... So why isn't she happy to be back home?

"I really want to go home" she said, remembering the little conversation she had with Anakin a while ago, one day after their last battle.

"3 more days here and we can get back to the Temple, Snips." Anakin replied, giving her a smile before looking back at his datapad.

And now that she remembers, when that conversation happened and she said home, she didn't remember the Temple, she remembered Padmé's apartment, she remembered The Resolute and she remembered the barracks of the 501st, 212th and 104th.

But not the Temple.

Now that she thinks about it... Whenever she thinks of what is home, she thinks about the barracks, The Resolute, the Twilight and Padmé's apartment, and when she thinks who feel like home, she thinks of Anakin, Obi-Wan, Plo Koon, Padmé and the clones, and that's it.

But not the Temple, not anymore.

She... She wants to feel bad for not thinking of the Temple as her home but-

She can't.

No matter how hard she tries, she can't feel bad about not thinking of the Temple as home.

When did the temple stop feeling like home?

Right, it started when the Council started sending the 501st on more missions after Christophsis.

And with time, The Resolute and even The Twilight started to feel like home.

When she was on Coruscant and didn't need to stay on the Temple, she spent her leaves with Padmé or with the Clones.

Padmé's apartment, the barracks, The Resolute and The Twilight, those were her home.

When she talked about her home she remembered those places... She remembered those places, except the Temple.

She didn't remember the Temple because the Temple wasn't her home anymore.

A week had passed since she realized that, and she wanted to talk about it with Anakin but something- there was something that stopped her.

She tried to mediate about it as Obi-Wan or Plo Koon would have suggested, but all she got was the sadness and the understanding of the Force.

She appreciates that the Force doesn't feel mad at her but- but she wanted answers.

The Force, still with that feeling of understanding and sadness, let out a feel of amusement, and Ahsoka let out a growl.

"The temple doesn't feel like home anymore" she said, a week had passed and she finally had enough courage to talk to Anakin about her feelings. So without wasting any time, after most of the temple went to sleep, she went to Anakin's room.

Anakin looked at her in surprise and understanding.

"How does home feel to you?" Anakin asked, after a moment of silence.

"Warm, comfortable, safe" she responded, thinking about the girls night she had with Padmé, thinking about the movie nights she had with the clones in the Resolute and the barracks in Coruscant, and thinking about her training sessions with Anakin and Obi-Wan or when she's helping Anakin with the Twilight.

"And where do you feel those emotions?"

"I... I feel them when I'm with you and with Padmé, or when I'm with Obi-Wan or Plo Koon or the clones" she said in a whisper, feeling that warm feeling when she thought about her... Family.

Anakin let out a smile as his Padawan allowed him to 'see' what she was thinking.

".... You know, my mother used to tell me that a home is not some house or a building, but that a home was where the people you love are, some people used to say that home is the place you feel that you belong, others said that home is where you are loved unconditionally." He said with a smile at the memory of his mother "do you feel at home right now?"

"Yes" she said "I feel at home because I'm with you."

He smiled.

"It is... Bad that the Temple doesn't feel like home anymore?" She asked.

"No" Anakin responded "I don't feel like the Temple is my home either, you know?" Ahsoka looked at him surprised and he let out a sad smile.

"It started with the war, at that time I was Obi-Wan's Padawan and the Commander of the 212th alongside Cody. When I spoke to Obi-Wan saying that I wanted to go home I thought about the Temple at first but.... The 212th were sent to more missions, and our time in the Temple was less, until I noticed that when I said home, I remember Obi-Wan, Padmé and the clones, when I thought about a place that felt like home, I thought about The Negotiator or Padmé's apartment, but never the Temple." Anakin placed a hand on Ahsoka's montrals, beginning to massage them so his sister/daughter in anything but blood could relax.

Ahsoka relaxed, and after a few seconds she snuggled into Anakin, giving him a grateful look.

"It's not bad that you don't feel the Temple as your home, Snips" he said in a low voice "a lot of Jedi feel that way, even one of two members of the Council feel that way."

"Really?" She asked.

"Yeah"

"Like who?"

"Obi-Wan, Master Plo, Master Ti, Aayla and Vos if I'm not wrong. And as I already said, a lot of Jedi feel like that too."

"I... Thought that feeling that way... I thought that it was bad" she said in a low voice.

"Well, now you know that isn't bad to feel like that," Anakin said, letting out a smile when Ahsoka let out a yawn.

"I'm glad that I talked to you..." Ahsoka said with a smile.

"I'm glad too, Snips."

After a few minutes of silence Ahsoka spoke.

"Master?"

"Hmm?"

"Who and what do you think about when you say home?"

"Well, I thought about the barracks, about the Twilight, The Resolute, The Negotiator and Padmé's apartment. And who do I think about... Obi-Wan, Padmé, the clones... And you" he said with a smile as he saw Ahsoka's surprised face.

"I'm glad that I feel like home to you." Ahsoka said with a smile, to then yawn again.

"All right, sa'mahr, let's go to sleep" Anakin said as he put Ahsoka in his bed.

"Anakin..."

"Hmm?"

"I know I already said it but... You feel like home to me too"

Anakin smiled.

"Good night, sa'dahr"
