Tosk can feel the energy of the Hunt resumed spark beneath his scales. His ship hums, and as he engages launch, he considers.
The Tosk live to outwit the Hunters. That is his purpose, his honor. He is the first Tosk to ever be hunted here. In the Alpha Quadrant. He could set course for the anomaly, again. Return to known space, where he might prolong the Hunt as so many have before him.
Or he could stay here. He does not know this space like he does the stars he's spent his life studying, in preparation for the Hunt.
But neither to do the Hunters.
The ship shudders as it leaves the dock. He must input coordinates soon, if he does not wish to waste this chance.
No Tosk has ever been taken from this quadrant. It would be a new honor, to survive the Hunt in unknown territory and to die so far from home.
Tosk punches in a direction. O'brien did not tell him of many places that were not the station, Deep Space Nine, but Tosk knows more than he did before. And there is one place that O'brien spoke of most often. He accesses the data his ship's computer gathered from the station, and sets his course for Earth.
It will be a thrill to see how far he can get along the journey before he is killed.
