Chapter Text
No one saw it coming. It happened way too quickly and without warning.
Only the Crown Prince and Choi Han was able to move fast enough for they were the ones closest to where the redhead was. And because of that, not only Cale, but the three of them was caught in the explosion triggered by White Star's death.
"CALE!!!"
"YOUNG MASTER!!!"
"HUMAN!"
Cale's friends and family called out. The intense shockwave from the explosion would've sent them flying if only they were not extraordinary beings and people.
They stood frozen behind the mana barrier Eruhaben and Rosalyn erected. Disbelief and grief washed through their whole body and took over their minds.
Raon would've rushed to the center of the explosion if not for Eruhaben who held him firmly. In truth Eruhaben too, and everyone else, wanted to do so. But they knew Cale wouldn't want all of them to cause a fuss over him. And Eruhaben had to act the adult despite how grief-stricken he also is.
All they could do was wait and believe that the three was safe. Especially the unfortunate redhead bastard. But,... wishes don't always come true, does it?
When the ashes, smoke and debris settled down, they hurried to where the three was. Only to be welcomed by a very heartbreaking scene.
Alberu and Cale lay on the ground in a pool of blood. The crown Prince lay ontop Cale in a defensive position. It seems, he was covering Cale.
They identified Alberu's taerang as having undergone the transformation into a shield that was much like Cale's 'Indestructible Shield'. But it probably couldn't hold up against the terrible explosion.
Choi Han, on the otherhand, was nowhere to be seen. Only his sword, which lay not too far from the other two, along with a small fabric of his black cloak was left of him. They suspect him of trying to cut through the flames in an effort to protect the two, only to end in a terrible fate.
"Hnng..."they heard an almost-inaudible groan.
They hurriedly took Alberu's body off of Cale who's left side of his torso was heavily damaged. His face's left side also suffered from ugly burn patches and his blood-red hair was burnt black at the ends.
His eyes can no longer be opened but the fact that he was still breathing gave everyone a bit of hope.
"Hang on, Cale-nim. We'll heal you, right away."said Rosalyn who immediately activated a healing spell on Cale who they don't dare move in fear of hurting the weak human.
On, Hong, and Raon watched teary-eyed as Rosalyn and the others try to heal Cale. "Hngh... Human..."the young dragon cried. "Don't die..."
It seems that the redhead heard this, for he tried to open his eyes albeit unsuccessful. He let go a deep labored breath then turned his head to where he heard Raon's voice. A smile appeared on his partially burnt handsome face.
That was how Cale drew his last breath. His face facing the kids, with a smile so peaceful you'd overlook the burns on his face.
Everyone felt their time stopped. Despair and grief could clearly be seen in their eyes. It was obvious they questioned their strength that failed to protect their beloved redhead.
No one moved a muscle. No words were said. All that can be heard was the cries of the young ones begging Cale to open his eyes.
They wanted it to be just one of Cale's planned scams. But it was obviously not.
Cale Henituse is dead. And gone with him is the Roan Kingdom's Crown Prince, Alberu Crossman, and their friend, Choi Han.
The whole continent grieved for the loss of their hero. A hero unlike anyone else. And a hero, no one would be able to find anymore.
