Rosemary Meat

Summary:

"Rosemary? I thought you didn't like rosemary." Said Jeno, staring at Donghyuck with mild interest.

The younger chuckled, looking at him over his shoulder with a smile for a moment, then moving to face the stove, continuing to cook. He kept stirring something, not bothering to answer .

When the older thought that he wasn't gonna give any more of a response, he suddenly piped up.

"No, you're right. I don't... But you liked her a lot, didn't you?" Finished the brunette, sparing a glance at Jeno.

Work Text:

Jeno opened the front door to the apartment, getting immediately engulfed by a heavenly smell as soon as he stepped inside. He couldn't help but smile, removing his shoes at the entrance and leaving his bag at a table nearby, walking straight to the kitchen and being welcomed by the sight of his boyfriend cooking and humming under his breath.

Still smiling, he closed the distance between the two, effectively hugging Donghyuck from the back, placing his face in between his shoulder and neck and leaving a faint kiss on the skin there.

"Hey honey, how was your day?" Murmured Donghyuck, stopping his humming and leaving a kiss at the top of his head, immediately moving to face the stove again.

"It was fine. Missed you though," Responded Jeno, moving his head to spare a glance at the pan that his boyfriend was working on, observing the meat sizzle. "when did you get out of job? you could've waited for me and we could've cooked together."

The younger chuckled. "I took the day off, wanted to surprise you with dinner." Removing Jeno's hands from his waist, he turned to face the older while intertwining their fingers. "Why don't you go sit? I'll bring the food when it's ready." Recommended the brunette, caressing Jeno's knuckles with gentleness.

Nodding, murmuring a small 'sure' he went to the dinner table, moving a chair to take a seat and then twist himself to keep staring at his boyfriend. Taking another sniff at the air, he questioned. "What are you cooking? It smells amazing"

What Jeno failed to notice was the smirk stretching on Donghyuck's lips. He cleared his throat before responding. "Mashed potatoes and Rosemary Meat."

"Her? what do you mean-" He stopped dead in his tracks, suddenly remembering. Rosemary.

Some months ago, Donghyuck had to leave the town - and consequently- their shared apartment, because of his mother falling sick. He ended up being away for a total of 3 months.

Even though they chatted and video called almost daily, it wasn't the same for Jeno. He missed his boyfriend. He felt specially lonely in those moments where he was so busy that he couldn't even maintain contact, often leaving his messages unanswered, which became more and more frequent as the days passed by.

He longed for his presence. For his touch.

With the pass of the days, he found himself more and more desperate for it.

At some point or another, he ended up in a club near their apartment which he hadn't visited ever since his student years.

Needing to distract himself, he sat at the bar, ordering a few shots to acclimatize himself. He couldn't let himself get shitfaced drunk, even though there wasn't anything that he wanted more than that, because he had work the next day.

While drowning his third shot, someone sat aside from him. Removing his gaze from the glass, he let it wander through the person next to him.

She was a woman, whom wore a beautiful violet dress that hugged every single curve of her body perfectly, shoulder length straight black hair, and a deep crimson decoring her lips. He maintained his gaze on her lips for a few more seconds before deciding looking at her eyes, which carried an amused expression, clearly having caught him staring.

"So... Why are you trying to drown yourself with tequila? You've sat here for around an hour, just looking like a kicked puppy" She murmured with a smile, looking directly at his eyes, giving him her whole attention. "It's kinda sad."

He cleared his throat, speaking up to try and defend himself. "I'm just trying clear my thoughts, I suppose..." He said, deviating his vision to look at the shot glass that sat on his hand. Feeling a little brave, he continued. "Why? did I caught your attention?"

She smirked, bringing a hand to her cheek to rest her head on it. "Oh, you certainly did. Did I caught yours? with the way you were staring at me, I sure hope so, or I'll certainly embarass myself."

Looking back, Jeno isn't sure what crossed his mind to even consider continuing with what was obviously about to go down, but at that moment, the only thing that rounded his mind was the way he had her undivided attention, the unmasked lust that swam in her eyes, which hadn't left his face for a second. The unadulterated need that circled through his veins.

He didn't think of Donghyuck even once before he replied.

"My place is near, if you want to accompany me." He murmured, racking his eyes through her body once again, this time with propose. Her lips curled in a wide smile, her eyes darkening.

"Oh, for sure." She stood up, coming closer to Jeno and caressing his shoulder, her hand coming to rest on his nape. She murmured at Jeno's ear, the later feeling her lips move with every word, causing him chills. "I'll make sure to clear your head just like you wanted."

Jeno moved, coming to face her. He spoke softly, their lips barely touching. "By the way, I never caught your name, didn't I?"

She chuckled, before answering. "I'm Rosemary, nice to meet you."

Even after that night, Jeno didn't stop seeing her, only putting a finish to the whole ordeal once Donghyuck finally came back.

He certainly loved him, that was clear, but nothing changed the fact that he cheated on him several times. He wasn't proud, but he would often excuse his actions in his head on feeling absolutely neglected.

A sudden voice cut through his line of thought, bringing him back to the situation at hand. "Dinner's ready, love." Came Donghyuck's honey-like voice, speaking with such sweetness and care one would think nothing's going on.

A plate was placed in front of Jeno at the table, Donghyuck sitting right in his line of vision, with a fond smile planted on his face, eyes void of anything. Just staring right at Jeno, observing.

"What's wrong, love? Don't you like it? I spended all afternoot preparing that for you, you know." Donghyuck spoke, resting his head in his hand and elbow on the table, gaze unwavering from his face.

Jeno stared at the plate in front of him before gagging and looking at the side, one of his hands moving to cover his mouth.

Donghyuck tched, his smile slowly falling and moving to stretch himself above the table, one of his hands laying flat on its surface, the other one reaching to curl around the collar of Jeno's shirt, pulling at it so they are face to face.

"Don't be so fucking ungrateful, you asshole. You had no problem eating her out, didn't you? Why is this any different? Eat your dinner unless you wanna end up just like her." Releasing the shirt with more force than necessary, he reached up to pet his hair in a loving manner, cupping his cheek, smile coming back to his face. "I did it especially for you, won't you have a taste?"

Jeno then met Donghyucks gaze, flattening his now crumpled shit with his hand. "Pass me the fork, would you baby? " he said, keeping his expression neutral and voice nonchalant. The younger suddenly laughed, his whole body rocking with the force of it, the sound resonating through the room. Wiping his eyes with a grin, he spoke up, amused. "Oh my, shouldn't you be at least a little more burdened? why are you so calm all of the sudden?" nonetheless, he reached to give him what he asked for.

Grabbing the utensils out of Donghyuck's hand, he shrugged, looking at the plate and starting to cut a piece of meat and stabbing it with the fork. "Why should I?" he looked back at him, placing the fork to on his lips, continuing. "Don't you remember the grilled meat we had the day after Taylor went missing? I remember clearly that you said it tasted amazing. Didn't it, darling?" Popping the piece in his mouth, he smiled, creasing his eyes while continuing to look at his boyfriend. "You just happened to have the same idea I had." Chewing, he turned to grab the glass of water conveniently placed beside him.

Donghyuck looked slightly surprised, if not pleased, to the words he just spoke. He then smiled sweetly at the older, grabbing his hand across the table and interlacing their fingers, returning at his seat.

Both of them then resumed dinner like normal, smiling at each other everytime they made eye contact, the whole ordeal ending at the back of their minds.
