Charles raised his hands innocently. “No. I was thinking about water. That’s different. Thinking isn’t a crime. Not yet. I checked.”

Lando was late again, by exactly one minute.
Oscar glanced at his watch, then at him. “Late. We start tomorrow.”
That set Lando off immediately. He hissed under his breath, furious, but careful not to shout inside the library.
“By a fucking minute?!”
“Irresponsible,” Oscar said flatly, as if Lando’s outburst barely registered.
Or, Lando Norris, a fourth-year business management student and captain of the university’s soccer team, is one failure away from being benched, which could also jeopardize his graduation. Oscar Piastri, on the other hand, is a third-year medical student, top of his class, a certified nerd, and brilliant enough to tutor. A university scholar that tutors for the money.
Oscar is Lando’s tutor. Lando, used to getting away with everything, money, a stellar reputation, a name that opens doors, has never had to struggle to stay on top. Oscar despises people like him. He hates that someone can coast through life on charm and wealth while others, like him, have to work relentlessly for every scrap of success. Lando embodies everything Oscar loathes.

Lando groaned, rubbing his face and glancing at the neat stacks of textbooks around him. Typical. Even with money, connections, and speed on the field, somehow time still managed to bite him in the ass.
He dropped his bag onto the table with a thud and muttered, “Okay… okay, let’s just get this over with.”
“I told you your session ended,” the man said again, but Lando had already plopped down in the chair across from him, ignoring the warning.
