Work Text:

At night everything is deep and endless in the cover of black. The air has a unique quality, becoming harder yet remaining liquid. The beach was empty; only rhythmic waves disturbed the absolute silence; the ocean was quiet, and tides were low. The moon was yellow and round; its light reflected in the water and created several moons, spread all over the rippling surface. The combination of dim and bright lights of the stars made shimmering reflections on the water. These small pieces of brilliance seemed to be moving towards shore all the time but never reached it.

A light yet cool breeze brought the ocean's fresh smell, crisp with a hint of salt. The sand was warm from the sun it absorbed during the day; walking barefoot, he could feel the embrace of the earth, a friendly and inviting feeling. Combined with the sea's calming breath created what was, no doubt, one of the most powerful forces of the universe. The moon and stars were only observers of this union, and they gave their light to underline this charm and harmony. It became clear that there was nothing to be done with this natural beauty. Everything was in the right places, and nothing could be taken away or added to this grand image. Except, quite possibly, the man beside him.

David Shield, or Dave as he preferred to call him, was walking by his side. The moon offered enough light for him to see the slight curve of his lips and the dusted color of red on his cheeks that only paled in comparison to the hoodie he wore. He had forgone his white lab coat and reading glasses for the night, calling it early and inviting him to a bonfire at the beach with some of his classmates. It had been fun; there had been music and beer, which was responsible for Dave's face's added color. He probably had three or four; he was far from wasted, but he was definitely buzzed. That was fine; alcohol didn't bother him, though he didn't partake in it much himself; at most, he would only have a drink or two. He never wanted to risk not being in top form for the next working day.

Like himself, Dave was also barefoot, both carrying their shoes in one hand or another. Dave had been the one to suggest taking a walk, saying he needed some air and wanted to show him the rest of the beach. He wasn't sure how different the beach could look at any particular location, but he didn't argue. He glanced at Dave again, his turquoise eyes shining under the moonlight; a smile slowly found its way to his features.

"You're staring," he suddenly spoke.

"Huh?" He blinked out of his daze.

Dave chuckled, turning his eyes to him. "I said, 'you're staring,' Toshi." He delicately raised a brow, his smile growing a bit. "See something you like?"

He blinked, feeling his face starting to heat up as he quickly averted his blue eyes. "I, uh..." He tried to think of something, anything to say, as he rubbed the back of his head. During his stuttering, Dave began to laugh, which made him look back at the shorter; the top of David's head was even his hulking pectoral muscles, of which and others were barely contained in a fitted black t-shirt.

"It's a joke, Tosh," Dave said. "An American thing."

"Oh," He forced a chuckle. "R-Right. Guess I still have a lot to learn." He glanced away from Dave, looking down at the sand and then towards the ocean. The waves continued their soft lapping at the shores, a gentle cadence that would relax anyone.

"You're doing great," Dave responded, drawing his attention back to him. "Your English is perfect, and you're already making headlines as a hero. By the time you make it back to Japan, you're gonna be a sensation!"

He grinned at the brunette, tilting his head a little. "You have a lot of faith in me, Dave. I still have a long way to go before I'm any kind of 'sensation.'"

"Nah," Dave said, giving him a slight push. It did nothing to interrupt his stride; in fact, Dave was the one who stumbled from it. "You're a legend in the making! And I got a front-row seat to it all!" He beamed at him, giving him a thumbs up. "You promise to use my costume design, right? For as long as you can anyway."

"Of course!" He answered quickly. "It's the least I can do, Dave! You've helped me out so much since I've arrived."

"Hey, I owe it to you." He reminded him. "I wouldn't be here today if not for you..." He chuckled, looking down at the sand for a moment.

He said nothing at first, leaving the shorter male to his thoughts for a minute. They had had this conversation many times; Dave expressed his endless thanks, Toshinori saying it was all in a hero's work and deserved no unnecessary praise. The usual banter. It was almost incredible how close they had become since the incident, but strangely not. How could someone not want to repay the very person who saved their life? Even think that everything they did would be enough? Personally, he didn't quite understand the concept but assumed it was an American thing as well. The culture itself was odd; it seemed there were more exceptions to the rules than actual rules; it was not hard to grasp but hard to understand...if that made sense?

"What are you thinking about?" Again, Dave's voice pulled him from his thoughts; he blinked and looked back at him.

"How confusing American culture is," He admitted with a small blush, rubbing at his neck this time. "I think I'd be even more confused if not for you, Dave."

The brunette smiled at him. "Man, between the two of us, I don't know who's more grateful." He laughed a bit. "Ain't we an odd pair?"

The heat in his face seemed to move to his neck; he kept his grin but didn't answer right away. He glanced away, focusing on the ocean. Was there a way to respond to that? Should he agree? Was he overthinking it? Why were his thoughts suddenly haywire? He could never remember being this scatterbrained in high school; he had always been so focused. When he was with Dave, all he could focus on was...Dave. His voice rang like temple bells; his presence warmed him more than the sun, his laughter and excitement were infectious. Toshi often found himself bored when Dave wasn't around; sometimes, he felt his mind drifting during lectures, which was the last thing he wanted. He was here on a scholarship for heroics; he needed to pay attention. It was impervious for him to keep his grades up, as well as his American internship logs. Speaking of, he had to update those. That was definitely on the list for tomorrow. He couldn't risk turning in those late. Hopefully, he could remember all the details and--!

"Tosh," Dave's voice rang out again, making the blonde look back at him. Dave had stopped walking a few steps back, so he did the same.

He blinked, tilting his head a bit. "Hm? Dave?" The shorter nodded ahead of them, motioning towards something. He turned, looking in Dave's indicated direction; he saw a small house of some kind about three or four meters ahead of them. He looked back at Dave, his expression showing his confusion.

"It's a lifeguard station," Dave explained, taking a few steps forward to stand at his side again. "It's late, and no one should be inside. Hopefully, it's unlocked..." He gave a small, mischievous smirk as he began to walk towards it. Toshi's brows furrowed; why was Dave 'hoping' it was unlocked? Was there something in there they needed? He hurried after Dave, catching up just as the brunette began to walk up the ramp leading towards the door; their steps echoed against the wood in the quiet night. Toshi glanced around, seeing no one else in sight; he looked back at Dave as he tested the knob, hearing it rattle two or three times before Dave was able to push the door open. Had he forced it? Toshi pressed his lips together at the thought.

"C'mon, Toshi," Dave ushered the bulkier man with a small laugh.

"We shouldn't be doing this, Dave," Toshi warned, his legs going forward despite his words. Curious blue eyes looked around the lifeguard station as Dave shut the door and locked it again.

"It's fine," Dave urged, though it didn't entirely Toshi's nerves. Inside, a counter was directed to the left that expanded halfway through the building, with a dark navy sofa and two matching chairs against the farthest wall. That was it; there was nothing extravagant or fancy within the structure. "Come on," Dave spoke again. "Let's use the couch." He smiled at Toshi as he walked past him, going to said furniture piece. He sat down, patting the cushion beside him and looking at the blonde expectantly.

Said hero-in-training felt himself blush and was grateful for the dark of the night to hide his features. He slowly walked towards the couch, sitting down beside the other. "Dave," Toshi started, looking towards him. "What's going...?" He stopped talking when he felt Dave place on hand on his arm, marking him stiffen. The brunette smiled and leaned closer.

"You're strong, but your skin is so soft..." Dave began rubbing his thumb in circles against Toshi's arm. "You're tough, serious, but you're also kind, considerate, and loving." His smile grew a little. "You treat me so kindly and with care..."

Toshi went redder at Dave's words, not just because he was flattered but the way Dave's eyes were shining, almost sparkling in the moonlight. There was no inner light source within the lifeguard station; the moon's shine was all they had. Had Dave always been so...handsome? He would have given a heroic laugh and thanked them before moving on if anyone else said this. He turned his face away from Dave, only looking back when the other placed a hand on his cheek and gently turned his face around to him.

Dave let out a giggle when he saw the blush on Toshi's cheeks; he moved to sit on his knees, slowly pressing his lips against his. At first, Toshi flinched a little at the touch but didn't pull away. He felt Dave smile more and tilt his head, then part his lips and lightly flicking his tongue against his lips. The blonde shivered, then also turned his head a bit and opened his mouth slightly. Toshi had somewhat surprised when Dave suddenly kissed him, but he was enjoying it. As Dave began to push his tongue into his mouth, deepening the kiss, Toshi felt him putting more of his weight on his chest, and a tingling sensation went through his body. He wasn't naive; he knew the feeling of arousal and pulled away from Dave. "W-Wait..." he stuttered.

Dave opened his eyes, staring at him and raising a brow at how fast the blonde pulled away; was he picking up on his nervousness? "What's wrong?" He asked, trying to look at Toshi's face, but he quickly looked away.

"N-Nothing...!" He answered quickly, refusing to look at the other again. He could feel Dave's eyes on him, boring holes into the back of his head and trying to read his thoughts. The silence was heavy, awkward, to say the least.

"Oh..." Dave finally replied, his voice heavy, the tone disheartening enough to make Toshi look back at him. The brunette had lowered his gaze. "You...You don't like me..."

"What? No!" Toshi said quickly, turning towards Dave. He reached out and placed a hand on Dave's shoulder, making sure to keep his touch gentle. "I-I like you, Dave."

"But not like that, right?" The smaller male confirmed, his lips curling upwards in a sad smile; he still didn't look back at him, his eyes fixed on the couch cushions. "S-Sorry..." He continued, forcing out a chuckle that didn't hide the wetness in his voice at all. "I'm an idiot..." Dave got to his feet, he turned for the door, but Toshi grabbed his wrist to stop him.

"I-I do like you," The blonde said again. "But...But Dave, I'm...I'm not very..." He swallowed, throat becoming dry as his face began to heat up. "Uhm..." As Dave started to turn to him, Toshi averted his blue eyes again and pressed his lips together.

"Experienced?" Dave finished as he faced the bigger male. Voice still not back, Toshi just gave a single nod. Dave huffed a light laugh, which made the blonde look back at him. Dave then walked in front of him, standing between his knees before placing his hands on them. "Don't worry," He continued, stepping closer; Toshi could barely inhale. "You won't have to do anything." His smile grew a bit before he lowered himself to his knees, right between Toshi's legs; the blonde could feel his heart hammering in his chest. He couldn't tear his eyes away from Dave as he reached for the clasp on his jeans. He started to say something, what he wasn't sure, regardless Dave hushed him. "Trust me, Toshi, you'll like this."

Toshinori spoke not another word as he watched Dave finish unfastening his jeans. He didn't move an inch as the other pushed his hand down his pants, lightly palming the growing erection in gentle circles. He sucked in a breath, fighting to keep his eyes open as Dave's hand slowly moved up and down the hardening length as to if sizing it up.

"Well endowed, I see," He teased as he stopped moving his hand, just long enough to ease the bigger man's member from the confines of his underwear. Toshi did not miss the brief widening of Dave's eyes; he blushed deeper and looked away, clearly embarrassed. "Sorry," Dave chuckled but didn't sound apologetic, only amused, which did not help Toshi at all. "Toshi, relax," The brunette encouraged. "I'm really good at this, or so I've been told." He grinned as Toshi looked back at him, his eyes now wide in shock. Dave had done this before?! The blonde nodded once but didn't relax; if anything, his body tensed up more.

Dave shifted, moving a little closer and probably to relieve some pressure on his knees. With Toshi's eyes locked on him again, he began to slide his hand down his shaft. Toshi pressed his lips together, staying quiet as Dave moved his hand back up towards the head. When his hand descended again at a slightly faster pace, his mouth fell open. As Dave's hand moved back up, he couldn't help a small sound; Dave didn't falter. The noise only encouraged him more. He gently swirled his thumb over the glans, and the way Toshinori stiffened made it obvious the blonde was enjoying his touch.

Watching Toshi's face, he slid his hand back down; the muscular male flushed and breathed heavily, his large chest rising and falling in steady pants. Before this, Dave had assumed Toshinori wasn't interested in this sort of intimacy; clearly, he had been wrong, and boy was he glad. He began to speed up his strokes, pumping his fist faster against the growing arousal. Dave let a hot breath ghost over the head; Toshi made another noise, slightly louder than before but obviously still trying to be quiet. "You like this," The brunette whispered, again his warm breath going over Toshi's hardened member; his voice was thick with a giddy joy that made Toshi's heart skip a beat. Dave's eyes were shining with glee, and the corner of his mouth raised slightly in a half-smirk.

"S-Sorry...!" Toshi attempted to speak; he didn't recognize his own voice, the unmistakable tone of arousal changed it completely.

"No, that's good," Dave promised in another hot whisper; this time, Toshi shivered. "I'll make you feel even better." Dave's smirk grew as they locked eyes; he slowly parted his lips, pink tongue darting out and licking Toshi's dick from base to head, sending Toshi's mind into overdrive. He was unable to connect what he was seeing and feeling; was Dave really doing this? There wasn't a single hint of regret or embarrassment in the other's features. His eyes were clouded with lust, something Toshi had definitely seen in many looks his way, and his cheeks were still flushed from the beers, but his expression of sexy arrogance made his cock twitch. How long had Dave wanted to do this?

The brunette spoke not a word as he lowered his head and opened his mouth, this time closing his lips around Toshi's cock and started sucking while his tongue nudged the sensitive tip. Above him, Toshi grunted; this was not the first blow job Dave had given. He had admitted that already; however, this was the one he enjoyed the most. Not because Toshi was easy to please due to his inexperience, but because this was the first time he felt sure his partner would not leave him after or use it against him in the future. Many ties his open bisexuality had landed him in some rough places and acts like these seemed to be his only hope for advancement in the future. With Toshi, everything had always been about equality and trust, even if he was just a nerdy scientist and Toshi was an aspiring hero. No matter how naive Toshi was, Dave would do everything in his power to pleasure him and make him feel good.

Piercing blue eyes watched Dave's lips glide up and down his cock, the image forever burned into his brain and sending jolts of electricity throughout his body. Toshi felt his insides beginning to twist and knot, especially as Dave started to slide his teeth over the sensitive, pulsing member. "Dave...!" He gasped, voice strained from holding back a moan. He was unable to look away as the other relaxed his throat, taking more and more of his length with each bob of his head until he was almost at the base. Toshi didn't think Dave had ever looked more gorgeous and part of him felt guilty for thinking that; Dave was a good friend and a brilliant man, not a sex toy. At some point, Dave had closed his eyes to concentrate more on pleasuring him, if Toshi had to guess, but if he kept up at this pace, Toshi didn't think he would last much longer. Maybe that was the point; perhaps his ignorance in American culture had caused him to miss all of Dave's hints, and now the man was doing the one thing he thought he needed to do to win him over.

Caught up in his thoughts, Toshi leaned his head back and rested it on the back of the sofa. Sensing his partner's wandering thoughts, Dave not only increased his efforts with his tongue, but a sneaky hand also moved its way back into Toshi's pants, lightly massaging his balls. Above him, the blonde groaned; he smirked as he felt Toshi's barely restrained his hips from bucking towards his mouth. The couch creaked, no doubt under the weight of Toshi's form, as he struggled to remain still and in control of himself. Part of Dave wanted to see that control thrown to the wind, but he wanted Toshi to do it willingly.

The salty taste of precum brought Dave back to the present; he slid his tongue over and into the slit of Toshi's dick, his hand moving faster in coaxing the approaching orgasm. He didn't mind; he wanted it; he didn't flinch in the slightest when Toshi's white-hot pleasure filled his mouth, but the sound of Toshi's fist hitting the wall in response made him jump a little. Swallowing the load in two fluid gulps, Dave slowly pulled away from Toshi's length, trialing one last lick as he did. The bigger man shivered at the sensation but spoke no words as he panted to catch his breath. Using the back of his hand, Dave wiped the corner of his mouth before looking up at Toshi; the blonde still had his head back against the couch.

"Tosh," he said, gently placing a hand on one of the larger's knees, hoisting himself to his feet again. "You...okay...?" At his touch and possibly the nervousness in his voice, the larger man lifted his head and looked at him. Meeting eyes, Dave gave a small smile, and Toshi seemed to blush for the umpteenth time that night; at least Dave thought he was blushing; his face was too red to tell.

There was a long silence between them, then Dave turned and moved from between Toshi's knees; the blonde hurried to the right himself and his clothes with the brief moment of privacy. When Dave looked back again, Toshi sat up, leaning forward slightly with his elbows on his knees. Feeling his stare, Toshi lifted his gaze to him; this time, Dave glanced away. "Guess I've messed things up between us," he said, rubbing the side of his neck.

Toshi's blue eyes widened. "What? N-No Dave," He said quickly. "I-I like you too, remember?"

Dave raised a brow, a said smile coming to his face. "But...?"

Toshi swallowed hard, eyes falling to the floor. "I'll have to return to Japan...eventually." He reminded.

"'Eventually' is not 'now,'" Dave pointed out, taking a few steps towards Toshi; when he didn't move away, he closed the space between the mand lightly kissed Toshi's lips; Toshi kissed him back only with some shy hesitance. As the kiss broke, Dave pressed his forehead to Toshi's. "Don't worry," he said softly. "We'll figure it all out; it doesn't have to be now."

Toshi smiled a little, looking into Dave's eyes with relief filling his own; this was why Dave was the smart one. "What...should we do now?" He asked sheepishly.

Dave stood up, putting both of his hands in his pockets. "Head back to the dorms," he offered. "Or stay in a hotel close by." Toshi blinked, raising a brow in confusion. Dave only smiled more. "I have a lot more to show you tonight."
