We're Still Siblings

Summary:

This is an apology fic for Head Games The Bad End. This is just some light fare of post canon Floofty and Snorpy reconciling with each other. It's more just them bonding and being siblings and making fun of the other in the end. No real trigger tags needed.

Notes:

Please do not be weird on this fic, I doubt anyone would be but I know people can be freaks. There is a completely rare poly ship mentioned at the end so keep that in mind but it is only mentioned because I think it's neat and I am attached to it. I hope you enjoy this short little fic! o7!

Work Text:

Snorpy was pretty nervous to visit his sibling after all this time. It wasn’t like they had left on the best of terms last time, although it had been better than the weird tension they had before that incident. Snorpy had been pretty surprised when Floofty had written to him asking him to visit for lunch. He had been stressed and had babbled to Chandlo endlessly about what it could mean and if his sibling had possibly been kidnapped by the Grumpinati. Chandlo had done his best to calm down his paranoid boyfriend and even drove him over, promising to stay in the area of Floofty’s apartment if Snorpy needed him.

And now Snorpy was standing in front of his sibling's apartment unsure of what was waiting within. Once he gathered enough courage he knocked on the door and waited for what felt like an eternity as he heard a dog barking for some reason. He couldn’t remember Floofty owning a dog but anything was possible he guessed. The door was flung open revealing a very disheveled Floofty holding a small fat blond dog in their arms.

“Grump, you always have to be so on time Snorpington? It just hit noon, alright come in come on,” Floofty said, stepping out of the way to allow his brother to enter. “This is Bellat, Bellat this is Snorpington,” Floofty introduced Snorpy to the friendly small dog they held. Snorpy gave a slight wave to the dog before she was put down and allowed to run around their apartment again. “Dining room, go, I’ll be there soon,” Floofty gestured through their apartment as they headed off in a different direction. With no other direction, Snorpy walked to the well-kept dining room where he uncertainly sat at the table covered in various papers. All were in neat piles however, curious he took a page off the top of the stack of one finding it to be a handwritten letter to Floofty. Unfortunately, he didn’t get to investigate further before it was snatched out of his hands.

“Did our mother teach us no manners, Snorpington or do you just have a habit of digging through people's mail,” Floofty chided, balancing two bowls with one hand and gathering up the papers with the other.

“Do you need help?” Snorpy asked nervously, glancing at the bowls they were holding. Floofty looked like they were about to vehemently deny the help before pausing and nodding offering the hand that held the bowls to him. Snorpy felt much better with the bowls that he learned were full of pasta as soon as he set them on the table. Floofty hurried off with the papers but was back quickly dusting his lab coat off and taking the seat across from Snorpy. A silence was quick to follow after that commotion leaving them both kind of stuck on what to say.

“Did you uh, make this?” Snorpy asked, gesturing towards the pasta.

“No I grew it, yes I did thank you,” Floofty replied snarkily. Snorpy chuckled a little at that. “No, but, Snorpy,” Floofty tried struggling with what they were trying to say. Snorpy paused and paid his full attention to his sibling. “Listen I thought about what happened on Snaktooth island, a lot. I realized I may have treated you, very unfairly. I did not like to be frank and I understand why now. I didn’t exactly try and I gave up trying to understand anyone else because I thought it was going to be like how it always was. I was wrong, I was really wrong and I am so sorry. You deserved a better older sibling and I failed to be better than I am. I just wanted to apologize and try again,” Floofty admitted, more focused on messing with their hands than looking at Snorpy. Snorpy put his hand over Floofty’s fidgeting ones.

“No, I get it thank you. I don’t think either of us were that great of siblings before. I wasn’t that great of a younger brother either. I knew you had nothing to do with my paranoia and I still made you part of it because we couldn’t see eye to eye. I certainly didn’t help with the understanding on my part. It’s my fault as well I don’t want you taking all the guilt here. I’m sorry as well and it would be great to try again,” Snorpy explained. Floofty silently nodded with Snorpy’s words. “Oh, my Grump are you crying?” Snorpy asked genuine concern in his voice.

“No, no shut up you don’t see anything,” Floofty laughed hurriedly wiping their face with their sleeve. Snorpy gave a slight laugh as well.

“Alright I didn’t see anything, wouldn’t want The Great Floofty’s reputation to be ruined after all,” Snorpy jokes.

“Oh shut up or I’ll tell Chandlo you like him,” Floofty chuckled.

“Well, actually, remember the celebration before the volcano exploded?” Snorpy started feeling himself blush just from remembering that moment. Floofty gaped at him.

“No! You actually! Oh my Grump I can’t use that threat anymore this is horrible. I’m glad though while Chandlo can be, Chandlo he’s still pretty intelligent and cares deeply for you which I can respect,” Floofty said smiling at his embarrassed brother.

“Yeah he is amazing,” Snorpy admitted starting to actually eat the pasta that was given to him.

“Means I can finally threaten him that if he hurts you I’ll turn all his bones inside out,” Floofty said slyly.

“Don’t you dare please don’t scare him off,” Snorpy exclaimed.

“I think he's way too deep for a simple threat to scare him off,” Floofty chuckled.

“I never asked, you have a dog now?”

“Oh yes, she’s a lovely thing she’s just so adorable. I had gone into a shelter just to look and well she was just there and next thing you know she was in my car heading home with me,”

“That’s kind of adorable,”

“I know she really is, she’s a sweet girl,”

“I have to ask since you turned the conversation towards my romance life,” Snorpy began.

“Oh Grump here we go,” Floofty groaned, rolling their eyes dramatically.

“You started it! Do you have any grumpus in your sights right now that I can make fun of you for?” Snorpy teased. Floofty narrowed their eyes at their brother who seemed to be having too much fun with this line of questioning now that the teasing was off of him. Floofty sighed now feeling rather embarrassed.

“I do,” Floofty quietly admitted much to Snorpy’s delight.

“Who? You have to tell me now or I’ll get mad at you again,” Snorpy teased. Floofty mumbled something under their breath growing darker in complexion by the second. “What was that?” Snorpy clearly enjoyed being able to make fun of his older sibling.

“I said, you can’t make fun of me for this, Gramble and Wiggle,” Floofty admitted hurriedly hiding their face in their hands.

“Oh my god, this is great. I get two different ways to make fun of you now,” Snorpy laughed.

“You be quiet! It took you years to confess to Chandlo so I can be a loser with feelings for once in my life,” Floofty said, tossing a napkin at the still laughing Snorpy.

Yes, they would say the apology went well as the siblings continued talking through lunch. They would still need some time to fully recover from that massive rift they had both built between them but for just this moment, it didn’t seem that impossible to fix.
