Work Text:
Michael had woken up in the middle of the night, Tubbo was still awake and went to comfort him. Michael had asked for a song, so Tubbo made up something.
"I heard there was a special place,
Where men could go and emancipate,
The brutality and the tyranny of their rulers,
Well, this place was real, you must have seen,
With Wilbur, Tommy, Tubbo, Verses Dream
It's a very big and now blown up L'Manberg"
Tubbo would have said fuck you dream, but this was for his kid, he was somewhat trying to avoid cursing around Michael, though Tommys a thing so.
"For L'Manberg
Your L'Manberg
My L'Manberg
Our L'Manberg"
Tubbo had grabed his ukulele while singing the first part and started playing quietly.
"For freedom and for liberty,
Our nation sought to build on these,
A victory for one's a victory for all
Well, the darkness came and then it went,
The destruction was no accident
And from the rubble we raise our L'Manberg"
Tubbo didnt notice Ranboo watching from the door to Michaels room, having come down the 'emergency' thing Foolish built so they could easily get to Michaels room.
"For L'Manberg
Your L'Manberg
My L'Manberg
Our L'Manberg"
Michael had fallen asleep, but Tubbo was reminiscing and sad so he continued, kinda glad Michael was asleep for this part of the... anthem.
"With bloodied hands and weakened knees,
As people left us in our need
As dogs, withers, n' TNT! release
We try to fight, have we lost our home
The cannons fire, child soldiers gone
We have stood and fought and died for our L'Manberg"
Ranboo sadly smiled. He was glad Tubbo was getting out emotions, but he wished Tubbo hadnt had to deal with so much trauma, with so much death, so much heartbreak. He wanted to go comfort him but he waited.
"We sing L'Manberg
We sing L'Manberg
To our L'Manberg
Farewell L'Manberg"
Tubbo stoped playing the ukelale, instead holding onto his 'Your Tommy' compass.
"Now L'Manberg lies within our hearts
it was replaced with a crater of ruins
We must walk away and start new, holding back our sadness
After wars fought and people lost
We learn to keep emotions hiden
The people, not the place, is our L'Manberg
Tubbo was softly crying as he finished up the anthem.
We sing L'Manberg
Our L'Manberg
Our L'Manberg
We're L'ma~nberg~..."
Ranboo went over to Tubbo, using a soft cloth to clean up his tears as he hugged him. They didnt need to talk, they knew what the other meant. Ranboo gently picked up Tubbo and took him back to their room.
The next morning Michael told Tommy about his Pa's amazing singing.
