Chapter Text
Aizawa walks away from the cute family and answers the call from Yamada.
“What do you want ‘Zashi.”
“Shooouuuuutaaaa~!” Aizawa sighs and reaches up to rub the bridge of his nose, already annoyed with the conversation.
“What.” He bites.
“Are you coming back yet? Oh! You better not have forgotten my noodles!!! I know the delivery schedule for that store, so don’t even think of trying to tell me they were out Shou.”
Aizawa rolls his eyes in response.
“Haven’t gotten there yet ‘Zash. There was an incident and I got held up, I’ll be there soon.”
“WHAT!? Aizawa Shouta, MASTER of efficiency in the detainment of villains and fastest person to submit reports, was held up? For an hour??? Was it some giant mutant type, did you get thrown through a wall again? WERE YOU AT THE HOSPITAL!??!?! WERE YOU ABOUT TO DIE AND YOU DIDN’T EVEN CALL ME, YOUR BEST FRIEND?!”
Aizawa growls and hurries his stride.
“No! Would you quit being so dramatic.”
“Then what happened?”
Aizawa pauses at a lost for words, he thinks about the cute kid he’d let hold him at the scene when usually he’d make quick work of leaving after the hand off with the police. Thinks of how long he’d really stayed, ‘Was I really with them for half an hour?’ and remembers that he gave the kid an autograph. His autograph, him, an underground hero who is supposed to be unknown in order to be effective. ‘I’m an idiot.’ Quickly coming to the conclusion that he can never tell anyone, especially Hizashi, that in his first year out of Yuuei as an official underground hero that not only did he resolve a situation in broad daylight with so many people around in a fairly high traffic area in his hero costume, not that anyone knows that for all that it looks like lazy laundry day attire, but that he did all that and gave a kid his autograph. He didn’t even have an autograph prepared, he just wrote his hero name like he was filing a report and after a moment’s deliberation drew a crappy imitation of his goggles under it hoping to make the kid smile.
‘What am I, a limelight hero?... It was just the kid. He had a good head on his shoulders, I was just promoting higher thinking. That’s part of what a hero does isn’t it? Supporting the next generation and stuff. Had nothing to do with the fact that he was adorable with his giant green eyes and ridiculously soft curly hair or how nice it was that he was gushing over my scarf. It was a bitch and a half to learn how to use this thing so I think I deserve a little praise for it. No one has to know it ever happened anyways.’
“… Shou? Did ya hang up on me buddy?”
“No. There was a… an officer I haven’t worked with before on duty, had to show him my license and verify my I.D. number in the system. Whatever, I’m at the store now, I’ll get your disgusting cheesy BBQ shrimp noodles, you heathen. I’ll be back soon.”
“THEY AREN’T THAT BAD SHOU-“
“I’m hanging up now.”
Aizawa pockets his phone and picks up a basket, anticipation for seeing the light fade further in the eyes of the poor fool working the register when they have to scan the disgusting combination of food and drink has him quickly gathering the groceries. Sharing an apartment with his best friend is a challenge sometimes but grocery duty is his favourite household activity by far.
