Chapter Text
Six Months Later
Thea stood next to her mother as she looked in front of the mirror in her white gown.
“You look great mom,” she said.
Felicity smiled. After her mother died, Oliver, Felicity and the rest of the group who helped them cleaned up the damage as much as they could from the bombs. Felicity was able to donate funds and set up a foundation for the area and since she found out her mother and the rest of the clan had hidden money all over the world that she now had access too, she made sure that they all paid for the havoc that their closed-minded beliefs wrecked. It took time for the people of the area to accept their help without fear but as they saw all of them not only financially helping those that were injured but physically removed the remains of the demolished part of their city.
Oliver had proposed to Felicity about a month after it happened and as they felt there was no need to wait an extensive period of time, they set the date for early fall. Felicity wanted a simple ceremony with all of the people who helped get their city back and created a new clan of all shifters. Some of them didn’t want to join a mixed group but there remained a respect for all of those that were like them. After a while, they discovered that the city was filled with those who either were or knew of these special people and they no longer cowered in fear that they would be discovered.
“I can’t wait to marry your father. It feels like we are finally the family we were supposed to be all along.”
“I know,” Thea replied hugging her mother, “I can’t wait to see dad’s face when you walk towards him in this dress.”
Felicity blushed, “It is a showstopper. It is the one thing I actually wanted from your grandmother.”
Thea looked sad, “Is it weird that I miss her somedays.”
Her mother shook her head, “No because even though she was behind that terrible tragedy, she was still your grandmother. She fed you, read stories, and helped you pick out dresses for all your school dances while I was finishing school and starting my company. She was my mother and I have so many good memories that I try to focus on that version of her rather than the person she was at the end.”
Thea sniffled, “I felt so guilty.”
Felicity nodded her head, “You and Tommy both did. I know you wanted to finish it. It had to be done but that didn’t make it any easier on your heart. And Tommy never knew the side of her that was good. There were so many things that he missed and then you both find out you are part of this shifter prophesy and kill your grandmother. I don’t blame either of you for feeling as though you did something wrong or feeling sad sometimes. You didn’t do anything wrong in your head but it’s hard to tell the heart that.”
“I wish I knew why she did it. Like were other types of us so bad that she wanted to wipe out every other non-wolf type and destroy the glades just because it was a poor area.”
“I wish I knew too. But we never will know why she wanted that or why anyone followed her and we all just need to remember the good times we had. Then, we move on and we live each day because now we have a second chance. I never thought I would see your father again. I thought he had betrayed me and you. I thought he didn’t love me. And I was sure after all the damage was done, we would find so many more casualties. But thankfully for Roy and his friends, there weren’t. And with the inheritance from the wills and my job, all of us have been able to rebuild stronger than before. We need to be thankful.”
“You’re right,” her daughter.
“Aren’t I always?” they laughed.
“I can’t wait to see you.”
Felicity couldn’t stop the smile.
“You and dad doing that secret message thing.”
“I can’t wait to kiss you.”
“Okay, let’s go. We have a wedding to go to,” Thea grabbed her arm and they walked towards the room where the most important people waited for them.
When Felicity saw Oliver standing there at the end of the aisle, her breath caught in her throat. Not only was he wearing suspenders as they quickly learned she had a thing for but he was still the most handsome man she had ever seen. His blue eyes sparkled with the love they shared.
“You’re stunning.”
“You’re not so bad yourself.”
Felicity felt her eyes well with tears and had to dab them away.
“I never thought I would be here with you.”
“We were inevitable, baby.”
The ceremony flew by and the couple with their closest friends and the family that remained celebrated the night away. Shortly into the reception, John Diggle, as Oliver’s best man, rose to give his speech.
“Good evening everyone. I am John Diggle and I have known Oliver a bit longer than Felicity. Oliver always seemed to be broody and I never really knew why as he played things quite close to the chest as some of you may know,” he chuckled and Oliver glared, “But he was also the most loyal and selfless man I ever knew. He would do anything for those he loved including sacrificing his own happiness for their health and safety. I finally found out that the reason he was this way was because of the woman sitting next to him. Felicity is his light in every way. I remember meeting her and noticed how he seemed different, lighter and finally saw him smile with someone other than Tommy. You two and your family have shown us all what love can really do. You have literally survived so many outside forces that have tried to destroy your love but it didn’t. I am so happy to be a part of your story even in the smallest sense because to watch you come together as a family is simply inspirational. I love you both and wish you all the happiness this life can bring.”
Felicity and Oliver kissed as all the glasses clanked together.
“He’s right you know.”
Felicity smiled into the kiss, “I love you…so much.”
“No more than I love you.”
