I’m not even a witcher fan - have never read the books or played the game or even liked the show - but this is my new favourite of all favourites. The characterisation, the worldbuilding, the lore, oh my god this is the fattest cookie going straight into my cookie jar - I better not forget this story.

Trusting solely in astolat, I read this fic with absolutely no knowledge of The Witcher at all, and it was a revelation of a fic. I don't know how much more or less I might have enjoyed it if I'd had even a smidgen of context from canon, how the core mystery might have played off for a reader already in the know, but I read this like a standalone novel and it was incredible. Probably for the rest of my life wherever I come across these characters again, I will view them through the lens of how they were here.
