Chapter Text
Years Ago
The autumn has started to set in as the weather rolls into the month of October and already there’s commotion going on at End’s High School.(Yes, this refers to the name of the anime, where else am I going to insert references and play-on-words? Don’t like it? Fight meh. You can probably guess the school roles for Guren and Shinya.)
“AMANEEEEEE!” A grumbling roar cuts across the classroom like a bear rampaging against intruders. His deep voice can be recognized distinctly.
“What Guren?” Yuu, sitting crossed legged and leaning onto his left elbow, hand to cheek, monotoned boredly as he rolls his eyes and picks his right ear with his right pinky.
If Guren could visibly be any more angry, he’d be a cartoon character with steam sizzling out of his head and blowing his top like a tea kettle. He slams the palm of his hands on his podium desk at the front of the room and growls again.
“It’s Ichinose- sensei to you, Amane!”
Yuu rolls his eyes again more dramatically and mumbles some imperceptible words and swears Guren could definitely detect. “I’m old enough to be your grandfather asshole.”
“What was that? Want to say that again?” Guren crosses his arms and narrows his eyes as if he’s looking at garbage.
“Nothing Guren .” Yuu glares at Guren for a moment before averting his eyes to the window, ignoring Guren’s presence.
“...brat” Guren murmurs from his mouth and turns his attention to the attendance book on his desk.
If it weren’t for the rows of desk between Guren’s and his’, Guren would’ve definitely flipped Yuu’s desk as a result of anger, fortunately Yuu sits all the way in the back, closest desk to the sliding back classroom door so he can split the moment class ends.
“Hey Rene, it’s not everyday we get such an interesting kid like Amane-kun right?” Lacus whispers to Rene with a giddy expression.
“He’s just a delinquent, it’ll tone down in another month or two.” Rene replies with a sly smirk plastered on his face, eyes rolling like Lacus’ childish comment.
“Amane-kun doesn’t seem like the type to give in though.” Lacus secretly points to Amane who has already kicked his feet up onto his desk, arms crossed and an expression that looks like he could stab someone multiple times before showing any signs of guilt.
“I never said it was Amane-san who was going to give in.” Rene chuckles as he bumps his shoulder into Lacus’ to show his playfulness.
“Hm… Guren seems like the stubborn type too though… what do you think Mikaela?” Lacus turns around to Mikaela sitting behind him.
Mika looks up from his book with bored eyes. He blankly stares for a moment then widens in regards that he is being spoken to by Lacus.
“Sorry what?” He straightens up.
“Amane-kun.” Lacus points more obviously to Yuu but Yuu doesn’t pay any attention.
Mika’s eyes immediately shoot over to Yuu leaning in his chair. He gazes at the raven for what seems more than just a few seconds as if he’s admiring Yuu.
Indeed, Yuu is quite attractive He has a small chin with a petite nose. His sun-kissed skin compliments his large jaded eyes along with his round cheeks and cherry tainted lips. He has thin, defined eyebrows that only draw attention to his luscious eyelashes that flutter every time he blinks. On top of that, it is clearly visible Yuu has a green dragon tattoo, accented with gold and red, wrapped around his neck and down his blazer that probably meant the tattoo traveled further down his body.
Mika blushes slightly and averts his gaze back to Lacus.
“W-What about him?” Mika stutters trying to respond back nonchalantly.
“Were you listening? Or were you too distracted by the cutie ? I’ll admit, he’s quite the eye candy.” Lacus nudges Mika’s shoulder with his left hand across Mika’s desk.
“N-No!” Mika flusters back a little too loud but immediately lowers his voice to a hard whisper. “I-I mean, he’s cute, like really cute , but I don’t quite like his attitude towards teachers.” Mika mumbles.
Lacus shrugs his shoulders and turns back around. “He’s a senior in a sophmore class. Rumor has it that he has failed senior year multiple times.”
“What?!” Mika leans into his desk to Lacus, his voice too loud again but adjusts quicker than before.
“It’s just rumors right? There’s no way he has failed it several times… right?” Mika leans a little closer to avoid people from overhearing.
Suddenly Yuu’s eyes twitch from behind his black locks, not visible to other people. Of course Yuu can hear everything within a mile from the quietest whispers and mumbles, but he chooses what he wants to comprehend he calls, selective hearing .
‘I guess the gossip here is pretty accurate.’ Yuu thinks to himself and snickers.
Mika overhears Yuu’s snickers.
‘Oh God he’s so cute when he snickers.’ Mika clenches his fists, trying to withhold his urge to walk over to the boy and squeeze the living shit out of him until Rene interrupts his train of thought.
“There’s no proof to that rumor so who knows.”
Yuu, being Yuu of course, has to insert his two bit sense to cause a ruckus, otherwise he wouldn’t be the cheeky brat he lives up to by name. So, Yuu decided to walk over to the small conversation and crouches so he’s leaning against Mika’s desk with his elbows and palms supporting his chin.
Immediately Mika, Lacus, and Rene jolt back a few inches to Yuu’s arrival.
“Hm… Naw those rumors are true if you really wanna know.” Yuu gives a pleasant smile as he puffs his cheeks Mika found absolutely adorable.
Yuu’s eyes trail over to Mika and they exchange gazes.
It must had been fated because something about the lighting made Yuu’s eyes sparkle like gems, revealing his irises and Mika could only gaze back with his mouth open.
As for Yuu, he is amazed by Mika’s natural born beauty. His sunny bleach blond hair curling around his slightly masculine and slightly feminine face. He has a long nose and thin, soft lips that compliments his sky-blue eyes that just gleamed perfectly in the light and caressed by his blond eyelashes. He had slightly thicker eyebrows, probably proof of his half Russian origin.
“So beautiful…” Mika accidently mutters out. As soon as he hears his own forsakened words, he gasps and covers his mouth with both his hands, his face turning a light cherry blossom color.
Yuu’s mouth drops slightly to express his shocked expression. Yuu definitely found Mika very attractive and just hearing that kind of comment from an attractive person made Yuu freeze. Not that Yuu was shallow or anything, he was just not use to someone else with a face likes to say something like that to him, especially someone who had to overhear his spitfire arguments with Guren everyday since the beginning of school.
“I-I mean tattoo on your neck!” Mika spurts out in hopes to cover up his outspoken thoughts.
“...O-Oh!” A slight maroon creeps upon Yuu’s face like someone dusted him with dark make-up. Yuu initially thought Mika is referring to his facial features because it wasn’t the first time someone complimented his face, but he’s slightly taken back in embarrassment since Yuu assumed Mika was talking about his face and not his tattoo.
“A-Ah, thank you…” Yuu darts his eyes over his shoulders to avoid his embarrassment, it’s a first for him.
Seeing this the chance of a lifetime, Mika utters up the courage to speak again, “S-So… the rumors are true, why is that?” Mika tries his damn hardest to not stutter in the sight of his crush.
“I-I mean, do you need academic help or something…?”
Yuu takes a second to comprehend where the heck the poor blonde boy was heading, then he lets out a relieved sigh.
“No… I choose not to do the work, the work itself is quite easy.” Yuu feels his embarrassment drop so he decides to look back at Mika, but one look at Mika’s gleaming eyes, Yuu’s darts his eyes away again.
“Then...Why?” Mika persists with concern, this time leaning closer to Yuu’s face.
Yuu, feeling the heat in his face rise again, inches back a foot or two. Being stared in the face by two puppy eyes and an attractive face was enough for Yuu to want to jump back another foot, or two, or twenty.
With another effort to regain his dignity, Yuu straightens up from his crouching and forcing himself to walk back to Mika, looking down at Mika with forced ease.
Being a playful coy, Yuu leans closer to Mika and chuckles in his ear.
“I just don’t have a reason to, Mi… kael… la~”
Yuu could definitely feel the heat radiate from Mika’s cheeks to his ears and it made him feel content that he had control again, but that’s quickly diminished when Mika grabs Yuu’s shoulders with his hands and looks Yuu straight in the eyes.
“T-Then I’ll help you find a reason, Yuichirou!” Mika’s voice resounds throughout the room, drawing attention from everyone, including Guren.
Yuu looks at Mika, then observes all the eyes on him. This is not what Yuu wants the class to stare at him for! To avoid any more disruption and the possibility of Guren lecturing again with his overly familiar voice, Yuu sighs and looks back at Mika. Taking his left hand, he caresses Mika’s cheek and smiles sweetly.
“You do you, boo and I’ll do me. A good kid like you shouldn’t get involved with a bad boy like me.”
With that said, as if it was timed, the bell rings on cue, drawing Mika’s attention away from Yuu and Yuu rips away from Mika’s grip.
Before Mika could even run after the fleeting Yuu, a hand lays itself on Mika’s shoulder. It is Guren.
“Hey, Shindo. If I were you, I’d stay away from a brat like him. You’re too good to get mixed up in the wrong crowd… or should I say, with the wrong brat.” Guren scoffs as if he’s giving advice to a too curious for his own good kid.
Mika dismisses Guren’s advice with a grain of salt.
“I don’t think he’s necessarily… bad… he’s just unmotivated.” Mika shrugs his shoulders and steps away from Guren’s hand.
“What, so you think you’re going to motivate him? What world are you living in?” Guren raises an eyebrow.
Mika shrugs again. “I don’t know if I can, but I won’t know until I try.”
“Well, good luck kid. That kid’s tighter than a clam to crack.”
“Well obviously the loud-assertive approach doesn’t work on him, sensei.” Mika mumbles.
“What did you say Shindo?” Guren narrows his eyebrows since he assumed Mika’s lower tone voice meant he said something not meant for him to hear.
“I said, I’m going to try a different approach that might work on him. Bye Ichinose-sensei.” Mika carefully replaces certain words to avoid suspicion of his sarcasm.
Guren just replies back with another raised eyebrow and shrug to which he walks back to his podium desk to organize his papers.
Mika’s Home
Mika makes it back to his house by foot and stumbles into the foyer from the excessive pairs of little shoes, scattered upon the wooden floor.
“Mika’s home!” A female’s voice calls out from deep within the house and several heads pop out from behind the doorway. Five heads jump out from behind the doorway and tackle Mika on his behind.
“Hey guys, I’m home.” He smiles as he looks over at all of his siblings’ faces. Counting heads he wrinkles his eyebrows,
“Hey, where’s Akane-onee-chan?” Mika pats one of the kids on the head.
“Hm? Did someone say my name?” Lo and behold, Akane pops out from behind the doorway with an apron tied around her waist. Her hazel brown hair is tied into a loose ponytail resting over her shoulder.
“Hey sis.” Mika grins again as he lifts his arms up as a few kids hanged like clothes on a clothing line and makes his way from the sunken in foyer to the traditional styled kitchen, styled with wooden floors and a dining table in the middle of the room. To the left side of the room is a pine green couch and a kotatsu facing a medium sized television. The house is quite empty, but is cozy and homy.
Akane walks back to the counter, preparing the rice and the dishes on the table.
“Mom and dad are coming home in ten. They texted me.” She hums.
“Ok, let me help you serve the food then.” Mika puts down his arms as the kids immediately scatter around the room, some ran to the couch and the others ran under the kotatsu.
It took a few minutes to set everything out, but Akane and Mika happily puff their chests out for their hefty work just in time for the front door to open.
“We’re home kids.” A loud but feminine voice calls out like rattlesnakes.
“We’re back my little angels~” A more obnoxious voice chimes in, obviously very feminine and noticeable to anybody with ears. Yes, it’s Mama Krul and Daddy Ferid. (Sorry, not sorry.)
“Where’s my children?” Krul rumbles with assertion and commanding rather than questionable.
“We’re here Mama Krul!” A bunch of small voices dash out of the kitchen-living room and go to hug their demanding mother.
“And here is Daddy Ferid~” Ferid opens his arms wide and waits for some children to jump to, but no one responds, hanging on to Krul for dear life.
“Ah~ I’m so hurt~” Ferid fakes an overly dramatic cry, placing his hand on his head and wipes an imaginary tear from his pale face.
“Mama Krul, Daddy Ferid is being weird again!” One of the children clings to Krul’s neck.
Krul chokes out, “You’re hanging too tight kid, loosen up.” The child loosens his grip like he’s told and Krul gives a sly, mocking grin to Ferid.
“Don’t worry children. Mama Krul is here to protect you from the pedobear.” She snickers.
“Pedo… Bear…?” One of the other children calls out.
“Mom, please don’t use that language with the children, they might adapt to using it.” Mika peers from the doorway and leans against the rim, crossed arms.
“Ah~~ My lovely son, Mikaela~ Did you miss Daddy?” Ferid sweetly clasps his hands together.
Mika rolls his eyes and smiles. “The kids have a point though, you are weird.” He turns back to the kitchen.
“Yes he is weird,” Krul laughs, then suddenly drops tone into a threatening growl, “But if he ever tries to be a real pedobear, I’ll make sure he goes extinct.”
Ferid sweats a little and laughs a nervous. “Haha~ ha…. That’s a great analogy Krul-darling, you know I’d never touch anybody but my dear, dear wife. You have the world’s flattest chest after all!”
Krul gives a cold stare over her shoulder as she walks toward the doorway to the kitchen-living room. “Good to know. You should also expect to sleep on the couch tonight, darling~”
Like an arrow has been shot through Ferid’s heart, whether it’s for love or because she struck right through him, Ferid cries crocodile tears. “Whatever you say darling” as he walks after her.
Yuu’s Dwelling
Yuu makes it back to his dwelling after a little wandering through a little sight seeing in the city over. After all, the place he’s staying at is no more than shelter with a roof over his head. Yuu really wouldn’t mind just living in a hotel but he really disliked the invasion of privacy from the room service so he decides to lease out on apartments for 2-3 year contracts, not that he ever actually buys.
From living so long, Yuu has had many adventures where he collected treasures and gained unspeakable fortunes, but never liked basking material things to others. Yuu had enough years ago when other people’s attempted to befriend him for his wealth and now he’s only looked at as eye candy. In search for excitement, and it’s clear he’s living in the golden age for technology, he never fails to buy anything that would amuse him regardless of the price, considering he could always afford it.
The first few decades Yuu was turned, he tried everything to fill the emptiness others left behind for him to wallow in sadness. He bought the biggest house in the neighborhood, debt free, hoping it’d help him but he soon realized he was never home and the house was too big, too empty… too lonely. So instead, he locked the house and walked away, never returning. He still holds onto the keys in case he needs a place to hide out for awhile, otherwise he only accepts leased houses that contained the basic necessities with very modern appealing designs.
Yuu grumbles from his tiring sightseeing as he pulls out his house keys. The room is dark and silent, no warm welcome, no company. Though, eventually Yuu got quite use to the silence and uses his time at his dwelling to plan out any events, or more importantly any heists if desired. Though, Yuu has cut back on the amount of drifting because society has changed a lot within 50 years, nothing is unknown. Almost the entire world is mapped out on the internet, what was it called? Oh yeah, Google Maps . The new surveillance in the world has made it much more difficult for Yuu to make it around without being noticed but in the end, it wouldn’t matter because all he’d need to do it wait out a few decades and people would forget all about him.
Yuu’s house is sleek and modern from the inside out. Large glass windows and a balcony led by an artistic curving stairwell. His house is styled to let in lots of light in little space making almost his entire house one room or two, not counting the bathroom. The foyer is traditionally sunken, but is floored with marble that leads into an open space, a kitchen island standing out the most surrounded by four steel stools. A large red, leather couch and a large sheep rug decorates the room with a 4K HD curved television hanged on the window. Brand new video games liter the couch and rug along with different consoles of all kinds.
In the kitchen area of the room, there is a silver steel refrigerator chefs would use with a built in freezer draw. Of course though, in the fridge there is unlabeled glass bottles full of red juice, blood, but it needed to look humane so he keeps cold water and tea in there as well. Once in awhile he’d buy fruit to decorate his island, considering he never uses it, but in the end uses the fruit for fertilizer in a cherry tree he’s growing besides his deck door. The house came with many glamorous and flamboyant accessories like the fridge, king size round bed, leather couches, and pool in the back, but the rug he bought because he ends up asleep on the ground more often than in bed.
On a nightstand next to the couch, Yuu keeps his laptop, however disposable on spot because he had no interest in getting tracked by the government, no actual important information stored on it. Instead, Yuu keeps those important plans in a trunk he writes out by hand hidden in a clevage on the ceiling no one humanly could reach without a fifteen foot ladder, of course as a vampire he can easily reach it.
Trodding to the fridge, Yuu reaches in and grabs out a glass bottle of blood, of course somewhat legally required. He always found the thought of drinking of a person disturbing, now and back then so he often pays money for blood at a blood bank secretly with no strings attached. With enough money, almost anything could be bought without being questioned including blood.
Could Yuu eat human food? Yes, technically, but it passes through him wholly and provides no nutritional benefits to his survival. It really is just for appearances when he eats and it taste very bland, like tofu and water.
Crashing on his couch, Yuu relaxes by kicking up his feet as his shoes slid off. He stares up at the ceiling fan and immediately thinks back to the blonde in his class.
“T-Then I’ll help you find a reason, Yuichirou!” Mika’s voice echoes through his head before he chuckles out loud again.
“Pffft, try hard.” Yuu closes his eyes to pass the time to ease his emptiness.
