Summary
If Hijikata has to read one more witness testimony blaming the mundane on yōkai, he might actually rip his hair out. Call him a skeptic, but he doesn’t believe in such creatures. Yet, the reports are piling up across Japan, and Edo is no exception. The government’s official stance points to uncatalogued species of Amanto, but the public isn’t buying it.
When Hijikata is unwillingly appointed lead investigator and forced to look into these reports, he’s certain his day can’t get any worse. That is, until a certain, silver-haired bum of a samurai is assigned as his partner.
