Summary
After a long, long silence, Lamaty’i finally spoke.
“Gulool Ja…” she said slowly, with the air that she was about to unveil a great and terrible truth. “This note… makes absolutely no sense.”
[Gulool Ja and Wuk Lamat find a loose piece of paper in the Backroom with some incomprehensible writing on it. They try to work out what it could mean. The answer is stupider than you may expect.]

Summary
It was to be expected, she supposed. It was always going to end like this for the Warrior of Light, one way or another. That she could go out knowing the worst evil was vanquished, that her friends were safe on their ship, that she had done her duty as a hero and gone out in a final grand battle and the world was, at least for the moment, safe from total destruction—that was more than many got. She was thankful for that.

Summary
Gustave wakes up—whole, breathing, and surrounded by the people he loves in a city he thought he would never see again. The Paintress is gone. Everyone tells him they won. There will never be another Gommage.
He should be relieved. Thrilled, even. But this victory has a creeping, sickly aftertaste, and the more Gustave tries to settle back into the world, the more he starts to wonder what exactly it is that they won, and what it will truly cost in the end.

Summary
The Warrior of Light gets trapped by a voidsent that grants its victims hallucinations of their soul’s happiest memories while it consumes their aether. Only, this time, it reaches so far back that it ends up using Azem’s memories instead.
[Set after 6.0, EW spoilers. Mostly an excuse for me to play with the WoL's identity crisis and the Lotus-Eater Machine trope.]

Summary
After a relentless string of storms hits Amaurot, Azem finds herself temporarily homeless while the Words of Deudalaphon effect architectural repairs. Emet-Selch, in an extraordinary lapse of judgment, agrees to take her in.
(Had he known about the bothersome lump of a cat that would accompany her, he would have happily left them both to drown in the rain.)

Summary
“G’raha Tia,” she says, rolling every syllable of his name on her tongue like one would taste wine, slow and deliberate. “A pleasure, then.”
She offers him her hand. Slender, elegant fingers peek out of her half glove, a writer’s callus prominent on her middle finger. G’raha beams, as radiant as the sunlight cast over the crystals surrounding them, and takes it.
Much later, as he looked back and realized he had not fallen in love, but slowly and surely descended into it, he’d be able to point out the smile she offered him that day as the first step down.
Through (a hundred and) five years apart, G'raha Tia and the Warrior of Light find that happy endings do not come without sacrifice.
A Crystal Tower and Shadowbringers retelling.
