Well, their server is peaceful. Now what?
Time themselves offers a surprising and somewhat confusing idea. Well--less of an idea and more of a command.
Or: Versions of Purpled, Dream, and Tommy from a roleswapped world somehow settled into (and reformed) a version of the canon world. Now they have to travel the multiverse for reasons that none of them are terribly clear on.
But you really can't tell Time themselves no, so they guess this is their job now.
I suggest reading A (Mostly Benevolent) Server Takeover & the Effects Thereof [Old, Dubiously "Canon"] first. This won't make much sense otherwise.

The Truthless Recluse has grown quite accustomed to the visits of the Sage of Truth. Meanwhile, the Sage has picked up on all of the bad habits the Recluse has followed for so long. However, there is never any confrontation. It’s so…confusing. Yet the Recluse still lies to him over them anyway. He believes he’s finally tricked the other into believing he’s fixing them. He knows it makes the scholar happy.
The Sage is coming over today, he knows.
Or: Sage knows about Recluse’s bad habits but never confronts the hermit about them. And the Recluse simply lies to keep the scholar happy.
