You're a first time reagent shoved into an unforgiving trial, dealing with the punishment of a team you're stuck with while completely oblivious to the horrors ahead. You know just about nothing besides some sadistic doctor is running the show and it seems like your team's not the only vermin shoved in this pit of hell.
Notes: This is an in depth fic focusing on multiple elements - Franco's trauma and the aftermath of it, psychoanalysis of characters beyond canon while still working with said canon, a broad genre of horror elements, and overall is an olive branch to the people in the community looking for something with a bit more sustenance. I will update when I can: followers of my tumblr will be notified (found in my bio) when new chapters are out. When I write it's an outlet for me, and hopefully will be one for you too, reader.
This is going to be a long one. Even if I take a pause in uploads, know this fic will have an ending. Any on my page that haven't been finished are because I was young and still learning.

Reki was born with fire powers-- he was lucky in that area. He was not that lucky, however, because his body physically could not handle him using his powers above a certain level. Even despite his exceptional control. However, after a chance encounter with Langa Hasegawa on the streets-- and later again in his school made to channel student's powers-- it seemed like his luck was turning around.
Little did he know, trouble can find you anywhere. Whether it be in your best friend's past, the lives of your teachers, or within yourself-- and the ability you may not realize you have.

Reki is so bright and beautiful, injecting fun into every moment they spend together. He was never scared by Langa's coldness. He offered warm affection, easily drawing Langa from his shell. He chattered, happily filling the gap of Langa's silence.
Langa tries hide his crush on his supposedly straight college roommate while Reki explores his bi awakening with Joe.

Shadow’s gaze in the rearview mirror hardens, and when Reki starts pushing himself up off the seat, he can see Shadow gripping the steering wheel so hard his knuckles begin to turn white. “Walk? You can barely stand!”
Reki shivers, the seat beneath him properly soaked and cold. Each drop of rainwater from his hair stings where it lands on his skin. He just wants Shadow to shut up. “P-please,” His teeth begin to chatter, his lips trembling. The fight leaves him just as quickly as it hit him. It’s hard to keep his eyes open now as exhaustion starts to claim him. “Just t-take me-e ho-ome.”
When Reki blinks, he’s in his room - in his bed, alone, the clothes he’d been wearing the night before stuck uncomfortably damp against his skin.

The boy had promised yoojin to just 'Wait 'till I’m done with school and have a job. I'll take you away from this, swear, baby'. But, of course, that hadn't happened.
Then the next silly dream was with a truck driver. Then a casino worker. Then a divorced father. Then some strange borderline drug dealer. Then another one, and another one, and another. And eventually Yoojin just had to stop holding his breath.
At least all those guys all tried to pretend to care about him. To actually give a damn about his feelings and future. Make him believe he had one with them. But Sung Hyunjae wasn't like that. He was a busy man, and didn't have time for indulgences or lies about love.
But, god, did Yoojin want them sometimes...

Gale met his eyes. He imagined feeding the man a delayed fireball and watching him claw at his own throat before he was burned from the inside out. Every moment Lorroakan tried to stare him down, Gale added another detail to Lorroakan’s demise.
(It starts with Gale getting captured during the Lorroakan fight, and it escalates into verbal humiliation and orb fisting from there)

“I want to know why you are at this party.”
Gale wrinkled his nose distastefully and pressed his fingers more firmly into the cold flesh of the arm pressed across his chest. Why was the man so cold?
“If I tell you, will you let me go?”
A snort.
“Perhaps.”
The wizard glowered for a few moments and then sighed.
“I seek an audience with lord Szarr.”
The breath at his ear stuttered, and the arm around him disappeared as the elf withdrew a few paces, finally releasing him entirely. Those ruby orbs narrowed in suspicion.
“With Cazador?” The informal spit of the name made the human tense. “Why?”
“I need his help with something important. Something…personal.”
“You’d be wise to seek assistance elsewhere.”
Gale stiffened at the man’s proximity, as well as the graveness lingering in the low whisper.
“What do you mean?”
The elf only pulled far enough away to meet his eyes grimly.
“Cazador will not help you. Not in whatever way you are expecting him to. If you value your life, you will leave tonight. Do not seek out Cazador Szarr, otherwise you will find yourself leaving here in a far worse position than you arrived here in.”
