Summary
What befell Gustave was the figure of a young man. He appeared mostly hunched over with an arm curled around his side, while the other braced his remaining weight against the door.
"…Y-You're really going to leave me out here to die, you stupid lazy bas-" His voice had come out in labored huffs. Snarling pain that seared into each and every syllable, gone the moment his silver eyes found Gustave's. Gustave blinked and took in the scene in front of him, watching blood and rain mix as it ran its way down the stranger's left arm. Beneath that, Gustave could see his side had been left torn open and what remained of his shirt was now hanging off his frame in mere suggestions of fabric. Gustave's mouth worked for a few seconds, his knuckles had gone white in contrast to the umbrella's dark blue wrap. He was brought back to reality, catching a glimpse of what looked like a world-weary smile crack across the stranger's lips,
"You.. aren't Monoco."
A short story set in modern time where Gustave housesits and has an unexpected visitor.

A Modern AU set in the small town of Lumière.

He glanced at his watch while walking and realized in a sudden gasp: the moment of serenity he had allowed himself a minute ago had distracted him from a carefully curated schedule. He rounded the corner quickly whilst not looking and immediately swerved out of the way to avoid a collision. Gustave couldn't think, couldn't remember what words tumbled past his lips besides a frantic apology in passing. His hands grazed over soft material- flannel? --something easy on his fingers. He carefully steadied the both of them before apologizing again with a smile and rushing down the rest of the block. The individual who had been equally startled collected themselves and took a second to adjust the sunglasses sitting at the crown of his head. He watched Gustave disappear around another corner in the distance. A gentle snort tinged with amusement found him, followed by a sigh not too long after. He shook his head and continued on his way in the opposite direction.
~~~This is my own personal love letter to the classic rom-com type setting: meet-cutes, tooth aching fluff with a side of angst soup, slow burn, I really hope you enjoy :)
