Summary
He feels breathless and adrift and waits for the rejection, but it doesn’t come. He risks a look at Izzy who is watching him with a look of wonder, head cocked to one side as though seeing him for the first time. There’s a half smile playing about his lips and he reaches out as though to run his thumb across Frenchie’s cheek but pulls back at the last moment. “You daft twat,” he murmurs and it sounds fond and amused and everything Frenchie has longed for but knows will never be his. “So let me get this straight, you went to Agnes the Hag to get a love potion for me to fall in love with you. She hates my fucking guts.”
“Yes, well,” Frenchie mutters sulkily. “I didn't know that at the time.” There’s something going on here that he hasn’t quite grasped because Izzy isn’t looking like he wants to stab him, which he had kind of expected. In fact, he doesn’t seem upset at all.
“And because she hates me, she cursed you to be a dog every full moon.”
“Yep, although it could have been worse.”
“How could it have been worse?”
“It could have been a cat.”

“Don’t you dare fight me on this, Steve.” Bucky’s alpha timbre rose. “I won’t have it. I won’t have you shivering yourself into an early grave."
Wrapping the omega up tightly in his own oversized coat, Bucky practically shoved Steve out the door. “Now, you go down to Campton’s Department store and buy yourself a coat. And a Coke. And any other treat you want. I mean it."
"Buck," Steve said. "I’m not going to spend your hard earned money to buy-” Bucky interrupted.
“You, Steve Rogers, will not be allowed back in our den until you come back without a red cent on you and a brand new coat cut in the latest omega style.”
Or

Vanth opens his mouth to speak, takes a breath, then shuts up again. A muscle near the hinge of his jaw twitches as he pushes out, “Feel like there’s an unspoken expectation of how this night is gonna go.”
“If you don’t want—”
“I want to,” Cobb blurts out, a little frustrated. “I want it.”
“But?”
Before answering, Cobb ducks his chin down, huffing at himself; even through the beskar, Din feels the self-deprecating bite of it. “Might need a little… guidance, is all.”

“How do you remember?” Frenchie asks, almost a whisper, holding the scarf like it’s something precious. Because it is, because Izzy gave it to him, and yet Izzy is acting like this isn’t the biggest deal ever.
Izzy finally pushes his chair back and turns to look at him properly. “Was I not supposed to?” He asks with confusion. Frenchie shakes his head in disbelief.
“Iz, you—” Frenchie manages to get out, before he sets the scarf reverently back down on the chair, and then he’s striding over to Izzy who lifts his eyebrows. I love you I love you I love you Frenchie says in his mind like a prayer, and then he leans down to plant his lips on Izzy’s so he doesn’t speak them aloud.
(Or, it's Izzy's turn to give something to Frenchie, and Frenchie has a lot of Feelings about it. And then they fuck about it.)

Summary
In the aftermath of the attack on the Republic, Izzy holds on to his life by a fraying thread. In strategizing the Revenge's next move, the newly minted Admiral Zheng decides to send Frenchie on "stress leave" - allowing him to be present for Izzy's probable last days on the island where Stede and Ed plan to build their own future. In a miraculous turn of events, a local healer/witch manages to stabilize Izzy and Frenchie takes on a job delivering her wife's flowers in order to pay for Izzy's extensive medical care. With new hope that Izzy might yet live, Frenchie reevaluates his own life and who he might want to share that life with.

Izzy’s barely got his own name out of his mouth before a loud clatter startles him back a step. His eyes dart over to watch the tail end of Frenchie’s task abandonment, the spoon falling to the wood floors noisily as Frenchie flails across the employee pit behind the counter in a clumsy rush. He slips in a spill on the floor and pinwheels as he skids across the floor to slam into the edge of the counter, his hands slapping flat to the top with the urgency of a wartime soldier who just watched his best friend get shot.
“What do you call an alligator in a vest?” He demands.
