Summary
It had occurred to Dunk in those final moments that they would probably not recover his body, that he would be nought but ash by the time the fires were brought under control. But that thought had oddly comforted him in a way, that there would be no grand funeral for the Lord Commander who had failed.
Failed to save more from the fire, failed to stop Aegon in the first place. Who knows, maybe his failure had even begun back in the hedges, maybe something he had done or not done had made Aegon the man who had done..this.
He would do anything to go back and fix it, had been his last thought before the sensations shifted from heat to cold, from fire to waves, from pain to panic.
or, dunk perishes in fire at summerhall and washes up on the sands of dragonstone. dragons still roam the skies, rhaenyra targaryen still lives and dunk quickly discovers he's not the only one lost in this time.

Summary
Aerion decides that having a new, very big, very strong personal guard suits him better than going through the ordeal of a trial. Baelor and Maekar decide that having someone to control Aerion isn't such a bad idea. And Dunk, stuck in the middle, learns that there is more to guarding a temperamental prince than just following him around.

Summary
“Has Aerion repeated his… advances?” Baelor asks carefully.
“Well, he—The prince is…”
“Like a whore desperate for some coin.”
“Stubborn.” Ser Duncan finishes, wide-eyed.
“That too, I suppose,” Baelor says wryly. “I don’t need to tell you to pay him no mind, do I?”
“No,” The knight denies vehemently. “I won’t disappoint you like that, Your Grace.”
A pause, after which Baelor hears himself ask as though he’s outside of his body, listening in. He regrets the words as soon as they come out of his mouth. “And if you hadn’t pledged yourself to me?”
Ser Duncan looks caught, his blush darkening high up in his cheeks. “I have no business doing that with a prince.”
“And if he wasn’t one?” He presses.
“I don’t know. Aerion is hateful, but—pretty.”
“Yes, I suppose so.” Baelor sighs. Aerion is pretty. It’s everything he hides behind that which makes him ugly.
“You are very handsome as well, Your Grace.” Ser Duncan is quick to reassure him, nodding seriously.
Inevitably charmed, Bealor has to hide his smile behind his hand.
Or, Dunk gets two Targaryen squires and finds himself in the middle of a bizarre love triangle.

Summary
Valarr looked down at her, and simply chuckled, shifting her mumbling weight further into his chest.
"Your arms are going to grow horribly tired, my prince. I am absolutely certain you'll get so exhausted you'll drop me on the cold stone floor before we even make it."
Valarr shook his head, his voice dripping with an all too adoring affection. “You’re an absolute terror,”
“I am a terror,” Clarice agreed, cheekily.

Summary
Very slowly, Daeron's hand rises, not to seize her, but to rest, uncertain and reverent, at her waist.
“I have never wanted the drink,” he murmurs. “I have wanted silence.” His grip firms, just slightly. “You are the only silence I have ever found.”
