Soap and Gaz stared at the white mug, decorated with a Man City logo that wasn’t quite printed on straight and sat on the island countertop that separated their Task Force 141 reck room from their poor excuse for a kitchen.
Soap sighed from beside Gaz. “I’m gonna wash it.”
“Your funeral.” Gaz mumbled, taking a bite of his sandwich but not moving his eyes away from the mug.
OR: Ghost doesn’t wash his tea mug because it ‘adds flavour’ and Soap takes great offence to this. They end up snogging about it.

Summary
The paper crinkled when he dragged it out from where he had stuffed it into his backpack, already ripped in the corners and scuffed from the harsh treatment when he ran to the gate earlier. He skimmed over the tags again, the first one being the one that caught his eye ‘military romance’, the rest of the tags weren’t too important as he ripped the paper. Sue him for latching onto it, maybe it was so hilarious that he could get through at least half the flight not bored out of his mind.
The ripped brown paper revealed a smooth black cover, a tunnel ending in a white circle with a soldier carrying another one over his shoulders, the title in plain white letters ‘Solider heart’. Soap flipped it, finding the reviews and a simple summary on the back. The author being anonymous, only the initials of what most likely already was pseudo name, ‘RS’. It held many awards, even called internationally best selling romance novel of it genre, which raised some eyebrows.
What had started as the longest flights of his life, turned out to be the shortest.

Johnny tries not to stare, but it’s difficult to tear his eyes away from the man. Really, there’s nothing that striking, he’s just an average Manchester man starting his day, yet Johnny wants to ogle just a little more.
“The vanilla latte’s good,” Johnny suggests as the man squints at the menu above him. “It’s a staple. Good drink to start with.”
“Not a latte guy,” his gravelly voice booms. His English accent sounds as smooth as honey, but his voice is deep and rough. Paired together, it creates a soothing, buttery voice that sounds sweet to Johnny’s ears. “An earl grey sounds good though. Two sugars, no milk.”
“Ah, should’ve known. Brits do love their tea, aye?” he jokes, swiping the man’s credit card through the reader.
He just shrugs, slipping the card back into his wallet. “Guess so.”

his eyes trained on Simon’s face.
The freckled skin, the wrinkles around his eyes and eyebrows, the expressiveness of his features. The scars and the small indents that when John really thought about it could look like the shape of that skull mask, but he wasn’t really sure. It was there, when Simon needed a short break on a bench, laughing at a comment John made, that it hit John. A warm feeling spreading in his chest like dye in water. He didn’t feel lonely.
Because Simon had filled that void with his jokes, his stories and warm timbre voice. Living in John’s mind even when he was at home watching TV or making dinner for one. It was a slow realisation, warm and sappy slithering through his veins and arteries. Smiling wider despite the conversation not really catering for it.

After coming so close to losing it all, memories of that fateful night in Chicago filled Soap's head in the quiet hours and haunted his dreams during sleepless nights. Now, every time Soap holds his weapon, he finds that his hands tremble, and no matter what he does, he can't make them stop.
Rather than seek help, he tries to handle it on his own, being the stubborn git that he is. Thankfully, though, Ghost is a very perceptive man, as well as one who knows the kind of pain Soap is going through.

“What do you mean? You got some top secret friends you stay with or something? I’m hurt you’d replace me, Si.”

Summary
Soap is used to taking blows to his pride -- he knows he talks too much, clutters the comms with his never-ending chatter. He's been told time and time again that he needs to shut his trap, to lower his voice, to stop bouncing his damn leg like an impatient child. It's never really bothered him much. He is used to it.
But when Ghost tells him to shut up, he doesn't exactly know why it hurts so damn much. Maybe he's being too sensitive. But he does shut up. He will do as he's told for once.
Even if it means life or death.
