Summary
The apartment is quiet. Always way too quiet. Liam likes it that way—likes the outside world fades when it’s just him and Asher, existing in the same void, sharing the same silence. On paper, they’re normal. Liam works the graveyard shift at a gas station and Asher works mornings at a garage. By first glance they’re average and forgettable.
But the apartment always smells faintly of bleach. Asher comes home late with his knuckles torn, his hoodie damp. And sometimes, the people who make Liam uncomfortable just… stop showing up. Liam doesn’t ask. He doesn’t have to.

It’s a sluggish Sunday, and Jake isn’t doing well. He’s been glued to his bed since Friday, the promise of a restful weekend lost to a spiral of dread and stagnation. Mid-breakdown, his phone buzzes, cutting through the silence. The name on the screen catches his eye: Drew. For a moment, he hesitates, the weight of the call adding to his unease. But something compels him to pick up, his shaky hand answering before he has time to overthink.
Alternatively: Jake feels like shit and relapses, but a call from Drew makes him feel better.
