Even if you’re still pissed off at me or you don’t…” He stops and takes a deep breath. “Even if you don’t want there to be an us anymore… I think you’d still want to go home, if you can. I’ll text you the address. Just… call. Please?”

Scar studies him. Glances at the feathers curtaining his view of the throne room's entrance, then slides his gaze back to Grian's dancing eyes. Fighting a losing battle is difficult enough; fighting one you've lost before it's even begun is impossible. "Yeah, alright," he says, resigned to the tendrils of fondness cinching thorny vines around his heart. "Let's hear it."
Another flash of teeth, dyed red in the light spilling through Grian's feathers. "The 'Not A Resistance' Resistance," he says, low and teasing, "would like to cordially invite you to kiss me stupid." He lets that simmer in the shred of air between them before tacking on, measured and thoughtful: "This is a time-sensitive invitation, by the way, so you should figure out your answer in the next ten to fifteen seconds."

Summary
“Hands were travelling!” hisses Pearl, in a loud, infuriated whisper, her fingers white-knuckled around the lapels of Mumbo’s suit. She’s close enough he can smell the alcohol on her breath, an odd combination of something wine-sweet and something else artificially fruity. There’s an open bottle of prosecco abandoned on the table behind her. “Grian was tasting Scars tonsils!”
“I– look, Pearl, I’m sorry, but the rules are clear! That doesn’t count!”
(In which there is a running wager on when and how Grian and Scar are finally going to get it on, and Hermitcraft's semi-regular server parties are a particular source of frustration and despair for its participants. Tonsils are tasted, drinks are drunk, Keralis is Keralis, and someone really should have made Etho check that sword at the door...)

Summary
Grian is a grown adult hermit with a stable adult life and mature adult thoughts. That's why it's more than a little embarrassing when he starts coughing up flowers every time he thinks of his best friend Scar. Everybody knows that Hanahaki disease is a teenage thing, right up there with acne, voice crackles and growth spurts. Fixing it is as easy (or as difficult) as resolving your feelings for your crush, but that usually requires actually talking to that person. Grian is bound and determined to do things the hard way.
(Or, the Hanahaki fic where nobody coughs blood, nobody dies, nobody is compelled to love anybody else, and Grian gets teased by all his friends about his crush.)
