Felix wants to understand. He wants to pull the insecurity, the responsibility, all that makes Sylvain hurt out with his teeth and bare it to the sun so it can burn. But people don't work like that, and he can't navigate the heart of the person the way he would navigate the battlefield.
Or: Sylvain is a collapsing star. He's reached the end of his limits, burning so strong until he can't anymore. Felix sits with him as Sylvain falls into his own hurt, because no matter what he says or does, he will always love him.

“Of course not,” he says automatically, freezing up a little in mute horror after the lie escapes him.

“Care to elaborate on that?”
Tim selects a capri sun and makes himself at home on the island counter.
“I’m eighteen. I’m an adult. And I think that partaking in some controlled recreational drug use could be good for my emotional development. I’ve been told I can be a bit,” Tim tilts his head from side to side as he searches for the right word. “High strung.” Yeah, that sounds about right.
