“I mean—” and Eddie cuts himself off immediately. He doesn’t know if correcting Buck and saying he fucked me is the best course of action at this point.
Buck stares, almost hopeful, as if expecting Eddie to follow it up with a negative on the accusation. I mean, that’s not what happened or, I mean, that’s clearly lotion on the bed, dumbass. Buck stares and stares, and the hope withers and dies, and he finally lets out a short, disbelieving laugh that doesn’t quite reach his eyes.
“Jesus, Eddie. So what— what, you fuck men now? Were you even gonna tell me?”
Or, Eddie sleeps with the Boston firefighter, and Buck takes it about as well as you'd expect. What's a little roughhousing between friends, anyway?

“Buck,” Eddie says, voice thick with emotion.
“Hey, it’s okay,” Buck says, smiling without his eyes. He’s not looking at Eddie when he laughs suddenly, stilted and awkward. “Guess I didn’t really figure it out, huh?”

“Eddie—” He exhales, his hand sliding into Eddie’s hair to tug helplessly at the strands. Even he knows he’s not trying to pull Eddie away, just grasping at something to attempt to ground himself. He’s trying to still stay in some sort of control—doesn’t want to roll over onto his back, tummy up and submissive like Eddie seems to be aiming for. In response, Eddie bites down harder, the movement punctuated by two sharp canines as they dig into the flesh of his throat. Buck whines, his free hand gripping at whatever he can reach—Eddie’s side, his arm, his shoulder. Eddie lets up, laughing against the skin of his neck.

Because here’s the thing about Buck. The thing about Buck is that he likes simple sentences. Easy to follow instructions. When, where, what, how. Buck is smart, of course, and he can understand and infer and deduct from context clues and body language. Technically. Technically, he can do these things. But he prefers not to. He doesn’t like to guess. He doesn’t like to guess, because guessing makes him nervous. And Buck hates being nervous. Doesn’t everyone?
But Buck hates it more than most. Buck likes reassurance, he likes knowing things for certain. Because if he doesn’t know for certain, he’ll stress and he’ll ruminate and he’ll twist himself inside out and backwards wondering and worrying and assuming the worst. And when Buck assumes the worst, he makes terrible decisions. So it’s just easier this way. It’s easier to cut the middle man and for Eddie to decide things for Buck.
