Summary
The Underworld was beautiful, and though he was not blessed with a place in Elysium, Asphodel was breathtaking. The sun never burned, and the shade of the orchards were cool. Al-Haitham never would have thought he would see the moon and stars again, yet there they were painted in the sky. There was a surreal, dreamlike beauty to the space, but Al-Haitham was not complete.
He missed his Kaveh, missed his laughter and his little idiosyncrasies that melded so well with his own. Without Kaveh, the idyllic afterlife he had found himself in was dull. “Meeting you for the second time was just as important as the first time, maybe even more so,” Al-Haitham says. Kaveh hesitates, before meeting his gaze. After years of knowing him– even more than Kaveh had previously thought, he is able to see the fondness in his gaze. Perhaps, it had always been there, even when they were just children. “You know, I think I have loved you since the first time we met,” he adds on.

Despite the seven years of separation, the beauty he had met on that beach in Rio remained untouched by the passage of time. Shoyo’s hand hung in the air, reaching for the folded, glossy paper that laid in his shirt pocket, seeking the familiar feel of the old photograph he carried with him. He didn’t need to take it out—not when both of the subjects of the photo were present in the same metro station, the only barrier being the tracks that laid between them. The announcement rang, the metro will arrive shortly. Shoyo took a deep breath and he ran towards the boy he kept in his pocket.

Kuroo did not understand Daishou—to him, Daishou was a walking contradiction that in the end melded together expressly because he didn’t make sense. He had no answer to the question that Daishou’s existence posed nor the answer to why he found himself unable to look away from Daishou, even if it hurt to look at him. Daishou was not like the sun, he did not deem it important to be warm nor to exude an aura that invited one in; instead, Daishou was all sharp edges with a silver tongue that could cut you and for once, Kuroo was content with not knowing all the answers.

It hit Atsumu, all at once that, for the first time in his twenty-six years of living, he was well and truly alone. There had never been a time without Osamu; Osamu had gotten a meager twelve minutes, but Atsumu had never lived a minute of his life without his twin. It left him feeling hollow, knowing that he was now five months older than a twin that should've stayed twelve minutes older than him.
He wishes he could tell Osamu that he had won; that Osamu had lived the happier life of the two of them.
