I have been silent too long. Seventeen years—seventeen years, two months, sixteen days, if I count this cycle. For longer than Julian lived in these worlds, I have suppressed these desires. I must speak. He must know. This Tantalean torment cannot continue. I cannot baulk now, closer to actualisation of the fantasy than I’ve ever dared to fantasise of being, in a more favourable circumstance than I ever would have countenanced, with a confession on the tip of my tongue.
