Summary
Sung Hanbin has spent years worshipping Zhang Hao from afar—her idol, her inspiration, the woman she never thought she’d ever have the privilege to stand in front of.

“How old are you, Hanbin?” Zhang Hao asks, dropping the honorific like it’s nothing. It freezes Hanbin’s blood, it makes it boil hot, and hot, and hotter at the same time. Her cheeks flush, her fingers fidget, her gaze skitters away from Zhang Hao’s.
“Twenty-four.” Zhang Hao hums, sounding almost satisfied.
“Ah, a baby then,” she says, much to Hanbin’s horror.
“Call me jiejie.”
Fingers cup her jaw, gently guiding her face up to meet Zhang Hao’s. Her eyes shine, all round and wide and innocent. But her smile isn’t.
Zhang Hao knows exactly what she’s doing, exactly what she’s doing to Hanbin.
And Hanbin doesn’t really mind. If Zhang Hao wants to toy with her, so be it.

Summary
Zhang Hao was proud of his differences; even if everyone else had wished he'd found himself a familiar and joined a coven. He didn't need them to be the prodigy of his generation, and he never would. This was a part of his identity, his core beliefs.
He wouldn't change his mind for a stray cat.

“Me,” the cat responded, smug.
“How did you get in?!”
Zhang Hao took a step towards the cat to assert his dominance, but the creature got up, and the witch jumped back with another yell, clutching his chest. So much for his dignity.
“I had to find you,” the cat simply said, primly sitting down. “I am your familiar.”

Even though Ricky would very much like them to, for selfish reasons. Pining for his best friend—how much more cliché could he get?

“Do you ever think about getting out of here?”
Ricky looks at him oddly. “What? Like, move away?”
“Maybe,” Gyuvin thinks about it all the time, actually. At least a couple hundred times a day. He imagines what it’d be like to be with Ricky somewhere else, somewhere where their futures and lives weren’t already written and decided for them.
Gyuvin plays drums in a band and is someone nobody has ever paid attention to. Ricky sits at the top of the social food chain, spends money like it’s a hobby, and acts like being kind is a disease. Still, opposites attract, or whatever.
