   EXCERPT.
   Scrambling back onto its feet, V1 pointed its shotgun at the body, then changed to its revolver for efficiency. It was Gabriel, face-first in the dirt and looking less lively than the swordsmachine. The silver plate that curved up to protect his neck now lightly dug into the tough skin at the nape.
