What would her mama think?
Anne Lester lives in a world she was never supposed to be born into. History is pressed into her skin by way of the red dragon scales that wind across her body, the very same that her mother had before she died. Though the war between the red and white dragons ended decades ago, the effects of it still cascade throughout the country, and with the adopted dominant religion looking down on them entirely, Anne Lester lives in a world where she has no choice but to hide.
The only figure she knows that's like her is the Dragon Hunter, the man that looks to purge the rest of the world of any of his ilk. If he were to be, by chance, her opportunity to learn anything more about the heritage her parents never let her grow with, Anne can't imagine a world where she doesn't take that risk.
The Alabaster Chapel keeps captive a red dragon—or so they say. If Anne's ticket there is the last heirloom her mama left her with, a puzzle that can't be opened—so be it.
If the church's priest with a secret of his own is the one she'll have to work with in the face of tragedy—so be it.

Rustica sat up, and left the harpsichord behind. Maybe one day, he’d find the lacking melody that was missing from his song, and the lacking memory associated with it, as well. But now, he should focus on enjoying his teatime with Chloe. It was the best option, for sure.
