“What?” Max’s voice is soft with concern.
“Nothing, it’s just…” Chloe hesitates with a small smile, crashing backwards against the pillows. “It’s just… so weird to be hanging out with you again.” Her voice cracks towards the end and she clears her throat, looking everywhere but at Max.
