Waking up to a total impossibility that throws every second of one’s future out the window is an occurrence that puts an extreme damper on things, to put politely. Secluded in a bedroom, the shattering of privacy that reveals an interference from the outside – an invasion of not only the room itself, but the bed, the person, the very cells that make up the fear and rage that bubble over as a result – is manifested away from the ears of polite company by much shrieking and swearing. One morning turns out to be different from all the rest, and that’s really all it takes. That, and some cobwebbed clothes from storage, a pair of plastic, toy sunglasses, and a one-way off-peak shinkansen ticket bound for the heart of Tokyo, furtively financed by a bank account owned by a person who no longer exists.
