At least the bluhaired knight that Albedo was dating would immediately notice, plus he wasn't sure he could take Albedo on...
He just... didn't expect Kaeya to save him instead and show him what the future could bring.
What begins is a journey of self discovery, creation of identity and acceptance. Maybe even someone like him deserves happyness in the end.

A strange pause in their conversation made Kaeya want to burst out in laughter in relief. How anti-climatic.
An alternate universe where Kaeya and Diluc never fought or had a falling-out. Their story of being brothers and happy... Until Kaeya's past decides to catch up with him and he finds himself scared for his own safety, as well as the future of Mondstadt.
As Diluc discovers there's more to his brother's past than he thinks, he finds himself befriending a Fatui Harbinger to help them out.

“What are you doing?” Albedo yelled. Then, he finally remembered he could cast a spell. All he needed was his voice, but Kaeya seemed to see this one coming, at least.
But before Albedo could finish, Kaeya’s lips were firmly pressed against his own. Which stopped him from casting, but also stopped him from thinking.

Soft puffs of air are blown onto his skin. Alive, it seems, but barely. When Kaeya fiddles with the cloak to reach for his neck so he can check for a pulse, he pauses.
Etched onto the young man’s skin in blazing gold, right in the center of his throat, is the four-pointed star of Khaenri’ah.
Or, in the middle of a blizzard, Kaeya finds a boy with a four-pointed star on his throat and eyes that hold galaxies.
It changes everything.

When Master Crepus gifted the two of them their own pet birds to look after, Kaeya’s initial reaction had been to decline.
The man had a well-intended habit of bringing back gifts from his travels, but taking a pair of birds back home from his trip to Fontaine seemed a bit excessive.
He’d explained that the red and blue shade of the birds’ feathers had reminded him of them. That they always came in pairs, or sometimes even whole flocks, because they couldn’t stand being lonely. And sure, that was endearing in a way, but Kaeya knew he wasn’t cut out to look after a living, breathing thing like that.
Not that he actually got to say any of that out loud. Diluc already spoke up before him, grinning from ear to ear like a kid who’d woken up to find their birthday had come twice that year.
‘We’ll take care of them together, won’t we?’
Kaeya desperately wanted to believe him.
Maybe, just maybe, the bird would be fine in his care.
Of course, Kaeya should have known better.

Kaeya laughs. It’s breathless. Unsteady. “Darling, I’ve never been invincible. I’ve just been very, very good at misdirection.”
“Then don’t misdirect,” Albedo says, fingers drifting again—closer now. Still not touching where Kaeya wants, but God, it’s unbearable. “Be honest.”
Kaeya tilts his head back. “Honesty is terrifying.”
“So is desire,” Albedo murmurs. “But you’ve let me have both, haven’t you?”
His fingers curl. Just slightly. Paint smears over the edge of Kaeya’s hipbone.
Or, Kaeya agrees to pose for Albedo, but becomes the one painted in gold, in reverence, in oil and longing.
