He blinks slowly, dimly aware of Mike’s eyes tracing his face. “S-sorry,” he stammers.
“It’s okay,” Mike says. He laughs a bit. “You are so drunk. I think you had, like, ten beers.”
Will laughs too, leaning close, but not enough to touch. “‘S your fault.”
Mike scoffs. “My fault!”
Grinning, Will nods, content to just sit close. Mike’s breath skitters across Will’s face and it’s enough. More than enough.
or, the summer before senior year ft. mike and will taking care of each other, bad attempts at flirting, obliviousness, and the perils of being hungover.

"What exactly are you calling for, Nancy?"
There was a moment of silence before she continued. "I'm living in Paris—for work. I can't… they won't let him leave the country, and I can't move back fast enough for it to matter."
Will felt his face pale. "What about your parents?"
"They don't want anything to do with him, not after—"
"Yeah, I heard. What about…"
"Will, there's no one else. I've tried."
"Nancy, I can't… I can't just—"
"Please. I wouldn't be asking if there was another option."
Will bit the inside of his cheek. "Okay."
Or: Mike is on house arrest for 6 months and has no choice but to stay with Will, even though they haven't spoken in two years.

He tells himself these things like a mantra, as though they will bring back some semblance of sanity. His chest hurts. His lungs still do not work. He is used to it. It still hurts.

Summary
Will’s body is heavy as Mike drags him out of the quarry.
His lungs are burning and feel too small altogether, unable to hold any of the air he is trying to force into them. He can feel Will's hands slipping up his chest, the limp body sliding lower against his back. Mike hoists him up again, readjusting his grip. His nails dig into the other boys’ wrists a little tighter, breaking the soft and pale skin.
They are getting closer to the shore, Mike figures. His thoughts are sluggish, coming slow and hard to grasp. He only knows that he must get them out, the need to tend to Will growing, more urgent and all encompassing, entire body thrumming Will Will Will with every step he takes towards the bank.
The other boy is an increasingly grave weight on his back. Mike never wants to stop carrying it.
or: mike and will on their final mission in the upside-down. will experiences the horrors and falls off the cliff; mike, naturally, jumps after him.

“Uh-huh,” Mike says faintly, and he yelps when they narrowly avoid the edge of a shining skyscraper, and his hands clutch onto Spiderman instinctively. “Oh – my fucking God, that –”
Spiderman’s fingers press a little firmly into Mike’s shirt. "Just – hang on!"
"What do you mean just hang – was that a pun," Mike sputters, clutching onto Spiderman for dear life as they swing through the city, and he can hear the superhero laugh through the racing wind in his ears, the rumble of it under Mike’s arm wrapped around his middle.
In a city of superheroes, Mike keeps running into Spiderman, much to his dismay.
On a completely different and unrelated note, Mike also attempts to woo and charm his neighbor into a date.
