the above is my original description of the following ~6K words of entirely self-indulgent and overspecific self insert that i invented an entire new quenya word for.
you, the tenth-walker, are a half-elf, a middle earth anthropologist of sorts. you're also autistic (but they don't have a word for that yet). you have a history of depression and self harm that you are determined to hide from the fellowship. especially from aragorn, who cares about you too much for his own good...

Her eyes were blurry with unshed tears so she couldn’t see them, though warm hands were cupping her cheeks and she whimpered as she leaned into the gentle touch. Fingers brushed the hair from her face and lips pressed against her forehead as she squeezed her eyes shut.
“Look at me,” The voice was familiar - comforting, even - and it was enough to let her crack her eyes open to look up. The Doctor was perched on the edge of the bed in front of her, and her bottom lip quivered as she blinked away more tears. “I’m right here, you’re not alone.” The promise was sealed with another kiss to her forehead.
after a traumatic time, the reader has a nightmare and the doctor comforts her.

“I almost die every day,” He tried to smile, and his joke only made it worse. When she had frowned further the Doctor sighed and nodded, his thumb against her cheek moved in circles to soothe her. “I know, but I’m okay.”
“But you could have,” Y/N sat up and leaned away from his hand as she scowled. “You could have died and you didn’t even care. You care about everyone else but yourself.”
the doctor almost dies and the reader can’t handle the thought of losing him.
