Summary
Griffith is being arrested by Eye due to false accusations of an old comandeer who vilified him just to take Griffith's place as Charlotte's comandeer. It was a huge mistake - Guts comes to Griffith's rescue, then went a killing spree, meanwhile people began to riot due to financial crisis in Gilead. That's how Griffith manages to fulfill his dream about overthrowing the regime of Gilead and to become it's supreme leader
However, his position is threatened because the Western world is infested with powerfully people who have been secretely supporting the old regime due to various reasons. They are unhappy about the change, they would go to great lengths to punish Griffith for this. To his surprise Charlotte, who fell in love with him because he wasn't abusing her at the time when she was his handmaiden turned out to be very usefull ally against those enemies

Griffith has a dream to overthrow the totalitarian regime of his country and to become a supreme ruler. He did achieve this but it was only a start of his trials because it is turned out that many western politicians, the same ones who have been pretending to condemn the old regime for its treatment of lgbt and women were in fact ardent supporters and sponsors of that regime so now they hold a grudge at Griffith and wish to destroy him

Charlotte has always been hating her father's hypocritical policies, anti-gay purges with Christian rhetorics used as an excuse for this pointless cruelty while turning blind eye at horrible amount of brothels.
Griffith's arrest was the last straw which breaks the camel's neck. She killed her father to finally being able to reconstruct the kingdom according to her vision, according to what she sees as good. She started from outlawing those who visits brothel. She made Guts the first man convicted of it just to show that the law won't spare anyone even if they are hero of the war
Then she turned her gaze at performances and entertainers and decided that culture shall undergo some cleansing too. Meanwhile Griffith was watching all of this, all the pettiness of Charlotte who just like her late father harasses artists over their songs instead of solving real problems, pathetic and cowardish pleadings of those street artists she persecuted for saying or singing something what doesn't fit to her new domestic political narrative and his benelit is triggered, not due to ambitions, but simply out of a sheer disgust, disappointment in the humankind, desire to escape such idiotic and unnecessary cruel world

Summary
Judeau comforts Griffith after she was forced to sell herself to a dirty old man to feed her army. Guts comes across the scene, interpreted it as Griffith lying to him and cheating on him, so he is left. Depressed because of his departure Griffith comes to Charles - fragile, shy son of a ruthless queen of Midland. She sleeps with him just to feel his gentleness, his adoration. However the Queen's spies are snitching to the queen. Livid at Griffith for daring to take Charles's(whom the queen secretely wanted all to herself) virginity she sentence Griffith to a torture chamber.
Judeau, horrified by the news of Griffith's ares, decided to find Guts to persuade him into helping him to resccue the woman they both loved
