Summary
“What if they never get over it? You said your sister came out and they didn’t talk to her for three years, and the only reason they went back to it was because she was in a car accident!”
Eddie shrugs. “Okay so we give it a year and I reverse into a hydrant.”
This finally makes Buck stop and turn to him. Good, progress. “This isn’t a joke, Eddie,” he says seriously.
Or: After a horrifying dinner with Eddie's parents, Buck loses the fight to the guilt of not being enough for Eddie. Temporarily.

Summary
“Did I do something?”
Buck stops and turns his head to look at him, confused. “Huh?”
“Look, I can handle it. I'm a grown man. I'd rather know.”
Buck frowns, holding out his hand to stop Eddie. “What are you talking about?”
“You haven't…” Eddie clears his throat, suddenly feeling his face really, really hot.
Buck’s frown snaps a little bit, his lips barely quirking up at the corners as he takes half step closer to Eddie. “Say it.”
“I…” Eddie’s face is on fire, his mouth is dry, and whatever courage he’d found within him has evaporated and disappeared. “I… can't…”
Buck nods, grinning. “Well, that answers your question.”
Eddie’s eyebrows shoot up. “So you're, what, punishing me?”
There’s a moment of stunned hesitation before Buck laughs brightly, blue eyes glued to Eddie’s annoyed face.
“Is not being kissed by me that much of a punishment?”
Yes. But he doesn't say it.
His face does though.
Or: Buck refuses to kiss Eddie. He's only kind of crashing out about it.

Summary
“I'm bi.”
Raising his eyes to the rest of the team, Eddie is surprised to find them all staring at him, jaws dropped in disbelief.
So much for warm support.
“What?” Hen finally asks, genuine confusion stamping her face.
“I'm bi,” he says again, more confident… or something like it. “I've been doing some soul searching since Nashville and…” he nods to himself, a shy smile stamping his face as he looks up to his team, “I guess I’m finally ready to share this with you guys.”
They, however, do not share in his whimsy.
“You're joking.” Ravi deadpans.
Or: Eddie comes out wrong—but luckily the rest of the 118 is there to drop kick him out of the closet.

Summary
“Buck?” he comes into view, slowing down from a sprint just before Eddie and doubling over, hands on his knees, breathing heavily. “What the hell are you doing here? Is everything okay? Are you okay? Jesus how did you get past security—”
“Just give me a second” he says, breathing heavily “Let me just… catch my breath”
So Eddie waits the most agonizing minute of his life as his best friend calms down enough to talk, slowly straightening up and holding his gaze, his eyes determined.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you. Everything is fine, I’m fine. Apart from, you know, sprinting through LAX with no shoes on.”
Eddie looks down and Buck really doesn’t have any shoes on.
“Where are your shoes?”
“TSA. Doesn’t matter.” He waves him off and Eddie feels like he’s on a prank show.
Or: Eddie goes to El Paso to reconnect with his son, leaves his best friend behind, and finds more in his hometown than he bargained for.

Summary
"Evan. Listen to me.” Eddie holds Buck’s face between his hands “It was just some man in the school playground. I don't care about him. I didn't even notice he was flirting with me."
"What's his name?"
"Matthew–"
Buck pushes Eddie back and he tumbles, hitting the dining table and catching himself on the table top. Buck’s eyes are zeroed in on Eddie, his focus burning, his gaze electrifying. Eddie immediately feels a slight tightness in his jeans.
"What. Was. His. Name" he asks again, his eyes darker still, pupils blown wide. Eddie's heart jumps at the sight, still slightly leaned back. His breath quickens as Buck looks down at him angrily. Furiously.
Hungrily.
Or: Eddie receives some unexpected attention and Buck needs to remind him who gets to have him on the dining room table.

Summary
“Hi, this is Firefighter Buckley with the 118. Isabel and Josephina got a clean bill of health, sir. You don’t have anything to worry about, I’ll be here with them if they have any questions for us,” Buck reassures, and, surprisingly, he’s met with absolute silence on the other end.
He waits a few seconds, then lowers the phone to check if the call dropped. It still says ‘Edmundo’ on the screen, and Buck catches a glance at the contact picture of said Edmundo on Isabel’s phone, and gapes for a moment. The guy’s real young, holding a newborn baby in his arms, baseball cap pulled down over most of his face but a dazzling smile, clear as day, peaks out.
“Right. Uh, thank you, Firefighter Buckley.” And wow, oh. It’s a nice voice too, velvet and rich sounding. A little gravelly, but in a very pleasant way. Buck likes it. But not in any way that means something. Objectively, it’s a nice sounding voice. Right.
***
Or, the five times Abuela and Pepa try to matchmake probationary firefighter Buck with freshly single dad Eddie moving to Los Angeles, and the one time they don't need to do anything at all.

Summary
“Are you homophobic?”
“What?”
“Will you be my boyfriend?”
“Yes,” Eddie answered, automatically, even though his mind had volunteered several other pressing questions, like what are you talking about and what is happening and did I recently sustain brain damage.
“Thanks,” said Buckley, and then he pushed Eddie back against the side of the firetruck and kissed him.

“Okay,” Eddie offers. “What exactly do you want us to do about this?”
“We have to get married,” Buck answers immediately.
