The bullpen is a cesspool of bad gossip and hearsay. Given the associates' position of being in the bottom of the barrel, their information has long since gone stale. But there's a few rumors that haven't died down, practically an open secret:
Harvey Specter is a womanizer, but Dana Scott is the one woman he just can't let go of.
There's another rumor, though, that's been around for quite some time:
Mike Ross is Harvey Specter's dog.

Summary
There's little to nothing that Mike wouldn't do to earn Harvey's respect and keep it. He would work any overtime to close a deal, he'd sweet talk any client just for the chance of Harvey giving him that self-satisfied smile, be gladly paraded at firm Christmas parties if it meant he got a this is my associate, Mike Ross on loop.
So it's not that Mike's upset that Harvey's ignoring him to work.
It's that Mike doesn't know anything about this work trip at all.

Summary
After picking a fight with a shady plaintiff, Jessica put Harvey on unofficial suspension to keep him from drawing attention to the firm. As far as anyone is concerned, Harvey is on vacation. As far as Harvey is concerned, he's in hell. Feeling bored and a bit restless, he reaches out to try and get details on an important case and Mike is the best– and only– available source. They get lunch and one thing leads to another.
