    Summary

“So, where do you want to eat?” Geto asks.

Satoru freezes, the last pastry halfway to his mouth.

    “Ah… about that.”

Something sinks in Geto’s stomach. Satoru is avoiding eye contact. There is something he’s guilty about.

    “I can’t today. I have plans.”

“Oh?” Geto does his best not to sound disappointed. It’s just one meal. He sees Satoru every day. Missing a dinner together is no big deal. Teasingly, he asks, “Don’t tell me you’re behind on another project.”

The light turns green, and they step onto the road, encompassed on all sides by a flurry of people.

    Satoru scoffs. “Of course not.”

Geto slows down to walk behind Satoru. It is too crowded to move side by side. “Did you get in trouble with a professor again?”

“Have some faith in me, Suguru,” Satoru says without turning around. “If you must know, I am going on a date.”

The words are as effective as a punch to the gut. Geto’s legs stop working in the middle of the crosswalk. People walk by, cars honk, but he is frozen in the spot.

He wonders if Satoru can hear his heart shatter on the icy pavement.

    Summary

As such, it goes like this – Suguru Geto takes his last breath on the Uji Bridge, but it is not the conclusion he expects. Instead, it’s a footnote. Because moments later, the audience calls for an encore, and he gasps like a newborn. He takes his first breath, again, and this will be Mark II. He has as little choice in it as he did the first time, when his mother’s cryptic pregnancy came to fruition on their kitchen floor.

The first thing he notices is the afternoon sky. It’s still bright with sun and broken up by infant clouds, all of which have moved a little to the east since he last saw them. The wind is lazy. March is coming to a close, and the scent of sakura is teasing at the horizon.

The second thing he notices is a boy. He’s sitting on the balustrade, chewing a wad of strawberry gum. He has string-bean limbs and hair as pale as lilies. His tea-shades are too dark to see behind, and there’s a plaster wrapped around one of his thumbs. Beneath the hem of his basketball shorts, a pair of grass-stained knees.

    “Yo,” he says.

(In which Death is a teenage boy, and Suguru is forced to live ad infinitum.)

He’s now six inches tall and a lizard.

    Summary

The building door slams shut with a heavy groan, and Megumi is left alone with the Tokyo night. His vision swims with angry, stinging tears. He isn't even surprised when the doors of a sedan parked in front of the building swing open and Gojo and Geto scramble out. They knew where to find him. Of course they did.

"Megumi!" Satoru closes the distance in three long strides, grabbing him by the shoulders. "Why are you— Oh God, you're shaking."

Megumi looks up at them. He opens his mouth, trying to speak, but his throat seizes with a spasm. The words are there—a hurricane of them—but they won't come out.

"He… Yuuji…" Megumi's breath hitches. The sound that escapes comes out like the rasp of a wounded animal. "He said…"

And Megumi breaks down, convulsive sobs wracking his body until his stomach aches.

or: still the Speakeasy and it's people, still love and alcohol, but also: Megumi's world ending, the past clawing its way out of the dark, and a destiny that finally catches up to them all.

    Summary

    - Manga spoilers ahead -

In one universe, Yuuji, Megumi and the rest of their ragtag group go see Tengen, get the back of the prison realm, find a way to release Gojo, and Nobara wakes up from her coma only long after Gojo has died.

In this universe, there are three turning points that change everything.

    1. Nobara wakes up early. Nobara wakes up much earlier than she would have originally.
    2. Because Nobara wakes up early, she is able to join the others when they go see Tengen.
    3. The trio bicker as they always do, even though they're in the tombs of the star corridor, and instead of leaving the tomb after the meeting with Tengen they instead get... lost.

They get lost within the tomb, then a wrong door open leaves them lost within time itself and then Yuji wakes up and realizes three more things:
    1. He is alone and has no idea where Nobara and Megumi are (for now)
    2. He is thirteen years in the past
    3. He still has the back of the prison realm with him
